For Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's Decatur twins and Walsh Jesuit's Matt Fields, it's showtiem March 11 in the finals at the state wrestling tournmament in Columbus.
At the Division II level, CVCA 126-pounder Jordan Decatur eaned his way to the final by winning a backyard brawl with Woodridge's David Massey in the semifinal March 10
Decatur pinned Massey in 1:49 to reach the state final. The larger Decatur twin will face his nemesis — Canal Fulton Northwest's Hunter Kosco — in the title match.
Massey, who earned his first All-Ohio spot by reaching the semifinals, dropped into the consolation semifinals. He will face St. Paris Graham's Jeffrey Thomas to open the morning session March 11.
Meanwhile at 106 pounds, Jacob Decatur scored a 10-3 win over Western Brown's Jedidiah Marlow in his semifinal bout. He will face Lisbon Beaver's Cole McComas in the 106-pound title match.
CVCA nearly had three wrestlers reach the final, but 113-pounder Matt Cardello lost 4-2 to Circleville's Nate Keaton in his semifinal. Cardello will face Stuebenville's Tim Young in the consolation semifinals.
Meanwhile at the Division I level, Fields rode his way to his seconds straight berth in the state final. He finished as state runner-up last year at 113 pounds.
Wrestling at 126 pounds, Fields won his quarterfinal match 3-1 over Elyria's Josh Breeding and then claimed the semifinal with dominant 9-0 win over Marysville's Derek Sharp.
Fields will face Mason's Jaimen Hood for the Division I 126-pound title March 11.
Wrestling will resume at 10 a.m. March 11 at Value City Arena with championship matches beginning at 5:45 p.m.
