After running against some unfamiliar competition for most of the last month, the Cuyahoga Falls boys cross country teams ran with some old friends Oct. 8 at the Stow Bulldog Invitational.
Black Tiger coach Bob Koch also knew the field running at Silver Springs Park was one of the toughest his team would face all season.
"We knew that this is a solid field all the way from top to bottom," Koch said.
"We needed to see where were we fit wit these teams," he added. "We're still making progress."
Falls finished in the middle of the 14-team field at Stow, taking seventh place with 195 points. Hudson won the boys team title with 59 points, while defending Division I state champion Cleveland St. Ignatius was second with 69.
While noting he was never satisfied, Koch said the Black Tigers did a decent job running as a pack on the fast course at Stow.
"We wanted them to stay together," Koch said, noting the goal for his top runners was to stay close to the 17-minute mark.
While the Black Tigers didn't stay in touch with the leaders, the did stay compact, as the top four Black Tigers finished within 14 seconds of each other.
