Led by their powerhouse junior, the Cuyahoga Falls gymnastics team claim the Northeast Ohio Conference River Division title Feb. 2 at Medina.
Falls won the team title with 134.575 points, holding off Solon (131.5) and defending champion Stow-Munroe Falls (130.975).
The engine of the Black Tigers' victory was junior Nicole Rozsa, who was one apparatus away from sweeping the individual accolades at the River Division meet.
Rozsa won the individual apparatus titles on the vault (9.05), uneven bars (8.5) and floor exercise (9.1) She also managed a fifth-place finish on the balance beam (8.5)
As a result, Rozsa won the individual all-around competition with a scored of 35.15, holding off runner-up Olivia Bell of Solon (34.95). Bell tied with Rozsa for first place on the uneven bars
Falls got help in the team race from freshman Maddie Johnson, who finished third in the all-around with a score of 34.15. Johnson took third on the vault (8.8) and was fourth on balance beam.
Stow freshman Faith Brown won the balance beam competition with a score of 8.9.
The Rozsa sisters went 1-2 on the floor exercise, as senior Stephanie Rozsa finished second with a score of 9.0.
Cuyahoga Falls was set to return to Medina Feb. 9 for the sectional meet, but results were not available at press time. The top four teams and top 12 individuals in each event at Medina advance to the district meet Feb. 23 at Painesville Riverside.
