Thumbs Up (Jan. 20)

Published:

THUMBS UP … to former Cuyahoga Falls City Council member Diana Colavecchio (D-5), who stepped down from Council Jan. 10 after she was appointed to serve as the clerk of courts for Stow Municipal Court. In her seven years on Council, Colavecchio served as the body's president in 2010 and 2011, and chaired Council's finance committee in 2012, a role requiring her to lead the discussion and review of the city's 2013 budget. She was also a member of a committee which selected Stark Enterprises to serve as the developer for Portage Crossing and was heavily involved with obtaining the Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education's concurrence on a Tax Increment Financing agreement for the project. We commend her for displaying a strong level of leadership, consensus-building and professionalism during her tenure on Council. The skill set she brought to the legislative group will be missed. We wish her the best of luck in her new challenge as clerk of courts.
