Nancy Lee Hamilton Rainey, born to Edna Earl Butcher Hamilton and Alexander Melson Hamilton on October 17, 1927, died February 5, 2017. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Arthur O. Rainey, her mother and father, her brother Phil and his wife Joyce as well as many dearly loved relatives and friends. Nancy is survived by her three children and their spouses; Dennis (Beth), Susan, (Jim), Kathleen (Joe), her seven grandchildren; Karen, Emily, James Michael, Julie, Alia, Katelyn, and Kristy; her ten great grandchildren, as well as her siblings and their spouses; her brother Charles (Lucy) and her sister Colleen (Bill). Nancy also leaves behind many deeply loved relatives and friends who enriched her life with their presence.
Nancy, retired from National City Bank, lived a full and loving life raising her family. While raising her family, Nancy enjoyed visiting her parents and family in Canada, and spent many a summer day fishing in northern Ontario. Nancy enjoyed travel and both Ireland and the North Carolina beaches held a special place in her heart. Her family often teased her by calling their home the "Irish Castle" because of all things Irish found within, and you could count on getting to review the shells she and Art found on their morning and evening walks on the beach. Nancy will be remembered for her willingness to listen quietly, her calm and kind demeanor, her great sense of humor (and pride in all the family's quirky humor), and most of all her steadfast love and devotion to her family and friends. There was a special light and warmth around Nancy when she was with family.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life on Saturday February 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Copeland Oaks. 800 S. 15th St. Sebring Ohio. In lieu of flowers, Nancy suggests donations to the Prayer Shawl Ministry at the First United Methodist Church, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Condolences and special memories can be shared with the family at www.heritagecremationsociety.com.
