Cuyahoga Falls LL North to States again
August 9, 2010
For the 2nd year in a row, a team from Cuyahoga Falls Little League North reached the State Little League Tournament. This year, the CFLLN 11U team reached the State Tournament in Defiance, Ohio. It is virtually the same team that reached State's last year as 10 year olds. To get to the State Tournament, the Falls North kids first had win the Ohio District 3 Little League Tournament. The double elimination tournament consisted of teams from Avon, Cuyahoga Falls South, Elyira East, Elyria North, Hudson, Tallmadge, and of course, Cuyahoga Falls North. In the District Tournament, they outscored their opponents 61-20. After traveling to Avon for the District 3 Championship, they had to wait out a 3 hour rain delay, only to be sent home after the game was finally called due to constant lightning. That meant a return trip to Avon the following Monday, where the Falls North kids beat Avon 7-1 to win the championship. Winning the district title gave them a second consecutive trip to the State Championship Tournament. Aside from the local boys, others that made it to States this year were Ashtabula, Clyde, Defiance, Hamilton, Mt. Vernon, North Canton, Washington Court House, and Wheelersburg. While the boys opened up the tournament in great fashion by beating Clyde in their first game, they unfortunately lost their next two games to Washington Court House and Hamilton. While they were not happy with the way it ended, they were happy about the fact that they were the first team from Cuyahoga Falls North to win the 11U District 3 title. They were also the first CFLLN team to qualify for States two years in a row. The team consisted of: Liam Ahern, Brandon Bischof, Preston Clark, Isaac Hosford, David Graham, Luke Keener, Kasey Kelleher, Jacob Margroff, Jacob Morehouse, Zach Nelsen, Nick Ruth, Jeff Shaffer, and Mac Shinaberry. This years team was managed by Todd Bischf and his assistant coaches were Jesse Hosford, Mike Keener, and Shannon Shinaberry. Great job boys! In the attached picture is the following: Comments
