There was no "media madness"

As a parent of a new Kindergarten student, and one who stood directly behind the sextuplet family on the first day of school at Lincoln, I'm compelled to respond to the person who wrote the letter about the sextuplet's first day of school. There was no "media madness" involved that day. The photographer's camera was a little larger than my own cameras (yes plural - video and digital), and he took the same photos of the children standing next to their locker as I did of my child. The reporter who stood quietly next to the line of children waiting for the bell to ring engaged my daughter in conversation about her first day. A far cry from what I would call "madness." Three of these children are in my daughter's class and, personally speaking, I plan to keep that edition of the paper so that someday, when my daughter graduates, I can pull it out and say, "remember when," since she will be growing up in school with these children. The first day of school for us was very special too. However, can you imagine getting all these kids ready to go at one time? And one of them with special needs coming to school with a (very well-trained) working dog. What a blessing, yet no doubt a challenge and example to us all of what can be achieved in the face of adversity. A simple reminder the children are still here in the Falls and doing OK, and still need the community's support and love. Nothing more and nothing less than I hope for my own child growing up here in Cuyahoga Falls.
