Just an fyi for all you slum-dogs out there.

From the intersection of State Road & Portage Trail to the intersection of State Road & Chestnut Boulevard it is, by Map Quest reckoning, a distance of 1.34 miles with a travel time of 3 minutes. If you or your "down-scale" friends should decide to take this route while slumming in the Falls, you'll pass the following amenities:
One ACME GROCERY/DRUG STORE
One WALGREENS DRUG/GROCERY STORE
One CVS DRUG/GROCERY STORE

From the intersection of State Road & Portage Trail to the intersection of Graham Road & Hudson Drive it is, by Map Quest reckoning, a distance of 2.17 miles with a travel time of 4 minutes. If you or your "down-scale" friends should decide to take this route while slumming in the Falls, you'll pass the following amenities:
One MARC'S DEPARTMENT/GROCERY/DRUG STORE
One GIANT EAGLE GROCERY/DRUG STORE
One relocated BOOTLEGGER STATE LIQUOR STORE
One KRIEGER'S FRESH PRODUCE MARKET
One CVS DRUG STORE-CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION
One TOPS GROCERY STORE...OOPS! My mistake; they left town a few years ago for some unknown reason.
One WALMART DEPARTMENT/GROCERY/DRUG STORE

From the intersection of State Road & Portage Trail to the intersection of Portage Trail & Seventh Street it is, by Map Quest reckoning, a distance of 1.1 miles with a travel time of 2 minutes. If you or your "down-scale" friends should decide to take this route while slumming in the Falls, you'll pass the following amenity: A DISCOUNT DRUG MART DRUG/Grocery STORE.

Now, if you or your "down-scale" friends had an urge to become globe trotters, even to the point of traveling between the 44223 Zip Code and the 44221 Zip Code, you just might decide to spend the 6 minutes it would take you to travel from the intersection of State Road & Portage Trail to the ACME GROCERY/DRUG STORE located on Bailey Road! Map Quest rates such a monumental quest as covering 6 miles and requiring all of 6 minutes to accomplish!

Oh, well, it's money well spent, I guess. If the almighty "up-scale" folk have some new nirvana to shop at, perhaps the current amenities listed above will be a tad less crowded when I and my "friends-in-low-places" go to shop.

Sincerely,
Robin Anderson

I'm hoping they build a "Babs R Us" store at Portage Crossing...

Huh?

Why did Akron "loose" either the Cabella's or Bass Pro? Why did Krogers ever leave town? Could it be because there ain't enough business/profit margin to attract/keep them? Um...someone please refresh this old curmudgeon-of-a-carpenter's memory. One might think that, aside from the fact both City's have a 'Mayor Don', the Falls residents have even more purchasing power than those of Akron! Um...we are excluding the good Silver Lake folk from this comparison, aren't we?

As far as the kiddie-land goes for the local young-skulls-full-of-mush...keep on pitchin' Kellie, you're bound to get a ringer sooner or later. Um...will their folks have to accompany them as they currently do at either the Nat or Chapel Hill Mall?

Create another City Park...cut your losses...and call it a day. Rolling Acres Mall couldn't even generate a minimum bid of $2.5 million dollars and it STILL has a Sears and JC Penney's as anchor tennents.

I still say we should be courting Cabella's or Bass Pro since Akron lost them. I like the Kohl's idea in todays editorial but there is one 10 minutes away in Stow, so I doubt they'd be interested.

My other idea is an indoor teen complex. Like rock wall climbing, a surf machine, laser tag, guitar hero stage, etc...

There is not much for teens to do in this area but lots of parents willing to dump money on these activities.

Aw...don't run away and hide, babs...c'mon out and play, eh?

Sigh...and the beat goes on...seems that the current administration and city council haven't seen any other people's money they didn't want to spend.

...2 parties may be interested in mall(ROLLING ACRES)...Auction fails, but does get property noticed
By Betty Lin-Fisher, Beacon Journal business writer. Published on Sunday, Jun 07, 2009

***Invest Commercial bought the mall(ROLLING ACRES) for $1.7 million in July 2006. Four months later, it was listed for sale at $4.9 million. It failed to get any bids at its opening price of $2.5 million during the Internet auction...

Two anchors, which are owned separately " J.C. Penney Outlet and Sears " remain open.***

Hm...I wonder what the specifics are of Rolling Acres Mall compared to the State Road Shopping Center? As me and my 'friends in low places' who like to read comic books might say, ma'am...NUFF SAID.

Hm...let's see now...my name is Robin Anderson...I'm in the phone book...while I may have been wrong(gawd...I hate the taste of size 12 Chuck Taylors-red!)...I've never been 'annonymous'...to the best of my ability or desires...and my 'valuable opinions' can stink as much as anyone elses, eh?

However, my opinions are my own and I stand by them fully...right or wrong...unafraid to voice them and not unwilling to admit when I'm wrong. If you must know, I'm a life-long resident of Cuyahoga Falls through the good graces and common sense of my parents. While I've had to apply for Unemployment Compensation once or twice in my life, I've otherwise more than paid my fair share of taxes throughout the years I've lived in Cuyahoga Falls. I've also had ample opportunity to observe the hypocrasy of many of the local 'politicians' from any and all parties operating here. Wanna know about the time some dim-witted nazi opened a store-front on Front Street?

So, now, oh-annonymous-buttercup...do you want to continue to attack the messenger or debate the issue(s) at hand? Prove me wrong or prove me a liar, eh? It's not that hard, is it? Um...anyone-anytime-anywhere, don't ya know.

Guess I've always 'been crazy but I that's what's kept me from going insane.' or so the song goes.

So who exactly is Robin Anderson? I've never watched anyone invest so much time sharing his "valuable" opinions. Does anyone think he's representative of Cuyahoga Falls? I certainly don't. Whatever proposal is made and whoever it comes from, he's against it - unless it comes from the lunatic fringe. Oh, maybe that's the common denominator.
