Grow up or get outJanuary 21, 2008
In response to several school board members' letters that have appeared in this paper recently, I as a tax payer would say this, Ms. Patterson and Mr. Grimes need to grow up or resign their posts. While I agree with Mr. Grimes in that there have been many good things done with our schools in the last 2 years, mentioning a "disgruntled collegue" only adds fuel to the fire. That being said, Ms. Patterson stated in her letter that she was not disgruntled. Sorry, but the way I read her letter, she sounds like she is doing nothing but being disgruntled. Whining about her child's class size is just silly. Everyone's class size has increased, save for possibly some "LD" classes, and those kids are entitled to a free and appropriate education, just like her child. She also still seems upset about the building closings over 2 years ago. Sounds like disgruntled to me. The problem is, while these 2 carry on their juvenile feud, deadlines are being missed for recovery of almost $300,000. I would say this, if these 2 board members cannot work together for the good of ALL children, then they, especially Ms.Patterson, should step down and let someone more mature handle their responsibilities. Aw...I beg to differ, buttercup! Just what were the reported class sizes of Newberry Elementary School before it was shut down during the last round of budget cuts, eh? Now, what about the continuing class sizes at Silver Lake Elementary School; it's age and feasability?
Just because School Board Member Patterson has objections that prohibit a "unanimous descision" does not necessarily mark her as "disgruntled"! Ever heard the age-old adage "Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it? Login above or Register to comment. |
