Disappointed in the People of Cuyahoga Falls

Two years ago, the population of Cuyahoga Falls was in an uproar about the School Board, School System, Closing Schools, Tax Levy's and an Astronomical Debt disclosed by Dr. Holland. I attended a public meeting at the High School auditorium that had more people turn out then the Musical Horizons concert. People were standing in the isles to listen to what Dr. Holland and the School Board had to say. Several people got up and voiced their opinions as to what went wrong, what is wrong and what needs to be done. Unfortunately, what the people didn't know, was that the decisions that were being disclosed at that time were already voted on, and ratified by the school board. Your Voice Didn't Count.

Now, the opportunity to have your voice count is again approaching. November 6, the city of Cuyahoga Falls will have a chance to Vote on who should be on the Board, and who should be on the City Council, etc. So where were you? Where were all of those people that were in an Uproar two years ago? Where were all of the people that stood up and made their speeches at the Falls Auditorium 2 years ago? The Falls News published an announcement that there was going to be a meeting to find out who's running for the School Board, and a chance to ask them questions, find out what they know, who they are, what their qualifications are to educate our children and make a decision about a budget. I went to that meeting, and if there were 20 people in room I would be surprised. You were all given the opportunity to better educate yourselves as to who is the best person for the job, who can make the decisions that you can support and you didn't care.

Based on the turnout of that meeting Monday night at Bolich Middle school, I'm less then confident that the people of Cuyahoga Falls can make an educated decision as to who belongs on your children's School Board.

Mr. Clark,
I agree with most of what you say but... The comments made at the high school meeting in the auditorium you refer to were made before a vote was taken that night. The board sat and listened to the public ask them to find another way and the board then ignored all they heard and voted later that night. We all know the decisions were already made and just made "official" that night.

But you can't make people care. The turnout at last Monday's meeting was pitiful. Then again we all lead busy lives. I have to say it wasn't advertised very well. Hardly anyone I talked to even knew about it.
