Letter: Says Councilor is 'honest, self-sacrificing'

March 14, 2010

Many of us are concerned that the property that was State Road Shopping Center be developed in such a way that it will enrich our community. I will not give my opinion of the developing plans because I know very little about the discussions, the relationships, the components involved.

I was disturbed with a recent letter writer's comments concerning City Councilwoman Carol Klinger ("'Disappointed' in Councilor's stance," Feb. 28 Falls News-Press). Having known Carol as a neighbor for 25-plus years and having observed her in various circumstances and with many different people, she certainly cannot be described as a whiner. Carol is bright, articulate and honest. She loves this community and is willing to stand in the hard place of criticism for the sake of what is right and good for it. Because of her common sense, her credentials, and her understanding of business and finances, her opinion should always merit true consideration.

It is not necessary for anyone to try to bolster his opinion by demeaning the character of another. Carol's view does not "merely represent another opportunity for free publicity for political purposes" as stated by the writer. Hers is the opinion of an honest, self-sacrificing, Councilwoman who cares very much about her community.
