Gerald A. Romesberg, 69, died Dec. 30, 2009.

Mr. Romesberg was born in Wilson Creek, Pa., and had resided in Akron for the past 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Chrysler in Twinsburg after 33 years where he worked as a maintenance technician. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1959 where he was a four-year varsity football player. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and adored his cat, Kitty. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Jane. He is survived by his children Christine Marie (Neal) McClellan of Kenmore and Steve (Gail) Romesberg of Manchester; grandchildren Jeremy Doss, Ashley Oshell, Brandon McClellan, and Nathan Romesberg; great-grandchildren Haylee Doss, Isaiha Reed and Sadie OShell; sisters Patricia Holcomb of Goodyear Heights, Doris Glover of Akron and Linda Adams of N. Canton; brother Bruce (Dorothy) Romesberg of Cuyahoga Falls, sister-in-law Patricia Zupko, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service took place at the Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home in Cuyahoga Falls. Interment took place at Lakewood Cemetery.

In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Va. 22312 and the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 4094 Quick Road, Peninsula 44264. Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
