Congressman Ryan Works to Create 420,000 Jobs

December 4, 2009

Recently, I spoke with Ohio Representative Tim Ryan, 17th District, on a national radio show called The Green Revolution. Our discussion focused on legislation commonly called The Natural Gas Act of 2009 supported by all 31,500 members of the Pickens Plan in Ohio and Congressman Ryan.

The Pickens Plan is an U.S. network of over 1 million people advocating use of natural gas, wind and solar energy. Benefits from these energy options include reduced dependence on foreign oil, hundreds of thousands of new US jobs and a greener environment. Natural gas is cleaner than petroleum and abundant in the US. Eighteen wheelers cannot run on batteries, only on fossil fuel.

The real story about the Congressman Ryan's efforts have far reaching implications. For example, T. Boone Pickens, an expert on natural gas, stated that if the U.S. moved 350,000 18-wheelers from burning diesel to running on domestic natural gas that would create 420,000 jobs directly and another 1.2 million jobs indirectly. The move would cut U.S. dependency on OPEC oil by about four percent according to Mr. Pickens. It's obvious that Congressman Ryan knows these facts and is working hard to bring in more jobs to his district by using the natural gas found within the Marcellus Shale Gas Deposit Region.

There are only four other members of Ohio's Congressional Delegation who care as deeply about fixing unemployment as does Congressman Ryan. He has "put his money where his mouth is" and gone to work for the people.

Sincerely,
