In my opinion The school board should come up with a new (and accurate) school budget instead of constantly having to renew levies. I believe there are 3 on the books right now but I may be mistaken. The operating costs are what they are and won't revert back to the same cost as 20 years ago. I think everyone in the community can understand that.
There is a administrative cost to renewing levies. The advertising cost alone has got to be staggering with all the fliers and newspaper adds.
I maybe oversimplifying the situation but I don't think I'm that far off. All the time and effort put into Levy renewal could be spent finding more cost effective means of running the school. How does the school system handle attaining quotes for supplies such as paper & books. In my line of work we send out quote requests to at least 5 potential suppliers and the quote that comes back with the most value for the dollar wins the bid.
Seems to me we could be focusing our efforts more effectively.
