The Cuyahoga Falls mayor and all City Council incumbents whose terms expire this year have filed to run for re-election.
June 25 was the deadline for partisan hopefuls for Cuyahoga Falls mayor and City Council to file with the Summit County Board of Elections to run in the Mayoral and City Council Primary Sept. 8.
Mayor Don L. Robart was the only person who filed as a Republican candidate for mayor, according to information provided June 25 by the Summit County Board of Elections.
And, at press time June 25, no one had filed to run for the Democratic nomination for mayor.
Although the deadline to file for the Cuyahoga Falls mayoral and City Council primaries was June 25, a complete list of people who filed was not available at press time.
Sept. 8 is the deadline for non-partisan hopefuls to file to run for Cuyahoga Falls mayor and City Council in the Nov. 3 general election.
Robart is vying for a seventh term in office. He began his first term as mayor of Cuyahoga Falls in 1986.
In the Council races, those who filed to run as Democrats are, Ward 1, Vincent Rubino (incumbent); Ward 3, Thomas Melito; Ward 4, Mark Ihasz (incumbent); Ward 5, Diana Colavecchio (incumbent); Ward 6, Don Walters (incumbent); Ward 7, Jerry James (incumbent); Ward 8, Jim Bouplon; and at large, Deborah Ritzinger (incumbent), and Levia Goff.
Those who filed to run for Council as Republicans are, Ward 2, Mary Ellen Pyke (incumbent); Ward 3, Ken Barnhart (incumbent); Ward 4, Marianne Sandy: Ward 5, Zachary Myers; Ward 6, Judith Fradette; Ward 8, Terry Mader (incumbent); and at large, Carol Klinger (incumbent), Robert Brown and Jeff Iula.
In addition to the mayoral post, all eight Council ward seats are up for election Nov. 3. Those Council seats carry two-year terms. Two of the three At-large Council seats are up for election. Those seats carry four-year terms.
The At-large Council post held by Kathy Hummel (D) is not up for election this year.
The petitions must be certified by the board of elections.
If any races have more than one candidate in the same political party, the primary will take place Sept. 8.
