Adult Doubles corn hole tournaments
Ring in spring at Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department's corn hole tournament sponsored by 16 Kids Deli in Schmitt Family Food Mart. The tournament is May 18 at 2 p.m. The tournament will be played outdoors at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. Teams can bring their own food and beverages and compete for prizes. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games. Cost is $20 per team. Pre-registration is required by May 16. Call the Quirk Cultural Center at 330-971-8425 for more information.
New youth ballroom dancing lessons
to begin
The parks and recreation department is now offering youth ballroom dance lessons at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. All classes are four-week sessions with a new session beginning May 22 and running through June 19. Fees are $37 per person for the five-week session (pre-registration is required prior to start date), no drop in fees. Ballroom dance classes are for boys and girls ages 9 to 14. Students will learn dances like Cha Cha, Swing, Tango, Fox Trot, Waltz and Meringue. Classes are from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.. Registration is taken at the Parks and Recreation Office and at the Quirk Cultural Center.
Girls' Slo Pitch Softball late registration offered
The parks and recreation department will host late registration for the Girls' Slo-Pitch Softball Program on May 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. All girls between the ages of 7 and 17 are eligible. Practices and games take place during weekday evenings. To register, take a birth certificate, parent and registration fee. Fees are $25 for all age groups.
Belly Dancing Lessons -- new session
The parks and recreation department is offering Belly Dancing lessons at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. The dance's low-impact aerobics make it a good workout. No experience necessary. Fee is $12 resident/$15 non-resident. Class fee of $60 paid at time of in-person registration at Quirk or mailed within one week of registration (made payable to Visions of the Nile). Pre-registration is required. All classes are six-week sessions taking place on Thursday evenings with a new session beginning on May 15 and running through June 19 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Disco Fever Middle School Dance
The parks and recreation department's Disco Fever Middle School Dance is May 17 at the Quirk Cultural Center from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. All sixth, seventh, and eighth graders can celebrate the end of the school year at this 1970s retro dance party. Tickets will be sold the night of the dance at the door beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 and are limited. DJ, food and favors will be provided.
Water Works memberships available
Water Works Family Aquatic Center memberships are available now at the Natatorium through May 22. The facility will open on May 24 for Memorial Day weekend. It will then close and reopen June 6 and be remain open until Aug. 24. The facility, located at 2025 Munroe Falls Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls, includes slides, lazy river, sand play area, geysers, sprays, splash party packages, concessions and much more. Members may enter the facility at 10:30 a.m., a half hour prior to other daily customers.
Season memberships start at the rate of $80 for residents and $110 for nonresidents. Bank drafting is available over four payments. Residents must verify residency. Birth certificates are required for all children. Rec Perks added value cards, for an array of recreation use and refreshments, accompany the summer membership purchases.
Parks and Recreation gift cards are now available for any dollar amount, including use toward Water Works membership or Water Works daily admission and concessions.

Photography course offered
Quirk Cultural Center is offering new photography classes. Class is offered on Tuesdays, May 20 through June 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. Basics include: lighting, f-stops, composition, digital photography, retouching, black and white, and more. Registration fee is $10 resident/$15 non-resident with a class fee of $50 payable to instructor, Ken Love, at registration or mailed within a week. Love has 20 years of newspaper and freelance photography work.
Basic e-Bay seller's course offered
The parks and recreation department is hosting a Seller's Basic on e-Bay class on May 15 and 22. Class is from 6 to 9 p.m. This course will take participants through every step including opening a seller account, a Paypal account, conduct effective product research, and managing a "My e-Bay account. Participants will learn to monitor their listings, complete transactions, and pinpoint fraud. Students are encouraged to bring an item to class to create their first listing.
Registration fee is $4 resident/$6 nonresident with a class fee of $35 payable to instructor, Eric Van-Raepenbusch (mailed or dropped off at the Quirk Cultural Center).
Computer courses offered
The parks and recreation department has new computer classes that will begin in May to help get participants up to date in the technology world.
Introduction to Programming will be offered on May 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants will learn core programming concepts, including but not limited to variable, arrays, and sub routines and functions. By the end of the course, the user will be able to create a window form with buttons to manipulate data on the form.
Registration fee is $2 resident/$3 nonresident with a class fee of $10 payable to the instructor at registration or mailed within a week.
Intro to Programming II will be offered May 22 and 28.
Make Games class will be offered in June.
