United Presbyterian Church
Pastor Ross Slaughter at United Presbyterian Church continues with his extended series on discipleship with a look at Jesus' promise to His followers before He returned to the direct presence of the Father in Acts Chapter One. Featured at both services will be the celebration of the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.
United Presbyterian offers two distinct styles of worship. The traditional service starts at 8:30 a.m. and the New Creation contemporary service starts at 11 a.m. The educational hour is between the two services beginning at 9:45 a.m. with small group ministry for all ages. Child care is available on Sunday morning. Parking is available on church property. All are welcome.
The Junior and Senior High Youth Groups will meet May 4 from 7 to 8 p.m.
PrayerLab is scheduled for May 6. PrayerLab is an opportunity to pray and to be prayed for. Anyone can come to the church sanctuary any time between 7 to 8:30 p.m. This will also give participants a chance to engage in discussion about how to have an effective prayer life. The format is open, with no fixed agenda or liturgy, so as to be Spirit-led.
The Senior High Youth Group will sponsor a car wash May 10 beginning at 11 a.m. Proceeds from the car wash will go toward their upcoming mission trip to Charleston, South Carolina, where the youth will work in an low-income urban neighborhood this June.
Also on May 10, U. P. C. will host its Free Soup Lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the church Fellowship Hall.

First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls
There is an organ concert at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, on May 4 at 4 p.m. by Dr. Joseph Daniels of Detroit. The program will include Sowerby's "Pageant" and "Carillon," three Fantasy pieces by Vierne, the late organist of Notre Dame in Paris, a sonata by Mendelssohn, Bach's amazing "Prelude and Fugue in D Major," the "Nocturne" of William Albright and the first movement of the "Widor Symphony #6." A free will offering will be taken and child care will be available.
A Warriors and Family Support Group is being formed at the church. The first gathering will be May 18 at 7 p.m. in the church parlor and all veterans -- active, non-active and retired -- and families are welcome to attend. For further information, contact Dick Thudium at 330-688-5060.
First United Methodist Church of Akron
The Ohio Boychoir will perform a "Sing the Earth Green" concert on May 10 at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Akron, 263 E. Mill St., Akron. This 22-member choir has a long history in Northeast Ohio during the last 30-plus years. The program of sacred and secular choral music is free to all. Broadman Baptist Church
Broadman Baptist Church, 350 E. Bath Road, hosts the following programs and services:
On Sundays, fellowship takes place at 9:30 a.m., followed by Life Impact classes at 9:45 a.m., and worship service from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
On Wednesdays, there is a fellowship meal at 5:30 p.m., followed by worship and prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and discipleship from 7 to 8 p.m. (various age group classes).
The church's goal is to have a total of 500 people for the month in its Sunday School classes. That's 125 each week. These classes take place before services at 9:45 a.m.
Women's Fellowship will take place May 8 at 6:30 p.m. A work day is set for May 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The congregation is invited to attend a Mother's Day worship service on May 11.
Bethany United Church of Christ
The first Sunday of each month, Bethany's volunteer nurses offer blood pressure tests during social hour in the social hall. To learn more about Bethany Church, come to the Lounge (first floor, 13th Street entrance) at 7 p.m., for the inquiry meeting. Pastor Steve will be sharing about the congregation. Vacation Bible School is scheduled for the week of July 7 through 11. More information will be coming soon. The building is wheelchair accessible with handicapped parking. Pilgrim United Church of Christ
Pilgrim United Church of Christ has hosted the Cuyahoga Falls Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) meeting every Saturday at 7 p.m. for more than 55 years. AA is an informal meeting society for recovering alcoholics whose primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety through a 12-step program. Recently a telegram written by founder Bill Wilson and his wife congratulating this AA group on their 10th anniversary was discovered at the church. Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith of Akron co-founded AA 1934.
This 12-step program is the model used by other recovering groups that includes Emotions Anonymous (EA), which meets at Pilgrim UCC every Thursday at 8 p.m. and is open to all.
The church is the home of the Cuyahoga Falls Mom's Club, an international organization dedicated to the modern "stay-at-home" mom or caregiver. The Mom's Club meets the first Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. Babysitting is available.
A free community lunch is being offered at the church on May 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A free hot meal is served the second Saturday of each month. Bags of groceries are available on that day only, but the groceries are not delivered.

Graham Road Baptist Church
Service Times - Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m. for all ages. The morning worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. and the current sermon series is from the book of Proverbs. The evening worship service begins at 6 p.m. where the congregation is studying from the book of Hebrews. A prayer service takes place Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
