Journey Covenant Church, 2679 North Haven Blvd., will serve a hot meal from 6 to 7 p.m. on the last Wednesday of every month. The first meal will be offered on April 30. There is no charge for the dinner.
Grandview United Methodist Church
Grandview United Methodist Church, 2315 Phelps Ave., will host the annual UMW Spring Salad Luncheon May 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church. Suggested donations are $6.50 for adults and $2 for children. Proceeds will go towards Grandview's missions projects.

First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls
Come to a big rummage sale at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be ten rooms filled with toys and games, children's clothing, clothing for men and women, shoes, records, cassettes, videos, handbags, jewelry and accessories, housewares, books and furniture. All profits benefit the mission projects of the United Methodist Women group at the church. Because of space, organizers request that attendees not bring strollers. To contribute goods to this sale, drop them off at the church on any day during the week of April 28.
There is an organ concert at the church May 4 at 4 p.m. by Dr. Joseph Daniels of Detroit, Mich. The program will include Sowerby's "Pageant" and "Carillon," three fantasy pieces by Vierne, the late organist of Notre Dame in Paris, a sonata by Mendelssohn, Bach's "Prelude and Fugue in D Major," the Nocturne of William Albright and the first movement of the Widor "Symphony #6. A free will offering will be taken and child care will be available.
First United Methodist Church of Akron
The Ohio Boychoir will perform a "Sing the Earth Green" concert on May 10 at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Akron, 263 E. Mill St., Akron. This 22-member choir has a long history in Northeast Ohio during the last 30-plus years. The program of sacred and secular choral music is free to all. A free-will offering will be taken to help defray travel costs. A reception will take place after the concert in the social hall. For more information, call the church office at 330-376-8143. United Presbyterian Church
Pastor Ross Slaughter continues with his extended series on discipleship at United Presbyterian Church with a look at Jesus at the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus as they come to know His life giving power in John 11.
The Senior High Youth Group will meet April 27 from 7 to 8 p.m.
PrayerLab is scheduled for April 29. PrayerLab is an opportunity to pray and to be prayed for. Anyone can come to the church sanctuary any time between 7 and 8:30 p.m. This will also give participants a chance to engage in discussion about how to have an effective prayer life. The format is open, with no fixed agenda or liturgy, so as to be Spirit-led.
The Church Workday will be on May 3, beginning at 9 a.m.

Bethany United Church of Christ
Donato's night at Bethany United Church of Christ is April 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. Ten percent of the receipts and tips are tithed to Bethany, 10 percent goes to the youth account and 80 percent goes to support the youth mission trip. All are welcome to come for good pizza and fellowship. Bethany Buckeyes is an informal group of men and women who are at least 50 years old and meet the first Friday of every month. The next meeting is May 2 at 6 p.m. Call in reservations to the church office. Vacation Bible School is scheduled for the week of July 7 through 11. The building is wheelchair accessible with handicapped parking. Pilgrim United Church of Christ
Pilgrim United Church of Christ has set a goal of collecting 20 percent more newspapers and magazines for recycling in conjunction with Abitibi Consolidated Paper Recycling. The collection box is on Second Street in the church parking lot.
A flock of Pink Flamingos is starting to arrive in yards. This is a fun way to help send church members on a mission trip to Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Miss. St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church
On May 4 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., auditions for nine separate plays will take place at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2121 Sixth St. The plays will be performed during the Medieval Liturgical Play Festival. on Aug. 2.
