Cub Scout Pack 3154, of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Christian School in Cuyahoga Falls, honored 10 Webelos II Scouts at its 17th annual Blue and Gold Banquet Feb. 25.
Cubmaster Joe Cambria of Tallmadge and Webelos II Den Leaders Tim Bullock and Erik Reinhart, both of Cuyahoga Falls, presented the Arrow of Light award to Caleb Baldwin, Christian and Noah Bullock, Christopher Lepto, Mark Manes, Adam Merten, Brandon Oettinger and Kyle Reinhart.
The Arrow of Light is Cub Scouting's highest award. Cub Scouts Tim Heil and Colton Krites were also recognized for their participation in Cub Scouting.
Following the Arrow of Light ceremony all 10 Scouts participated in a "crossover ceremony," which symbolizes their transition from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouting. Scout Caleb Baldwin, who recently moved to Portage County, was inducted into Troop 556 in Rootstown.
Scoutmaster Dale Hedrick and acting senior patrol leader Shaun Duniver, both of Stow, welcomed nine of the crossover candidates into Troop 154 at Redeemer Christian School.
Troop 154's newest Scouts are Christian and Noah Bullock, Tim Heil, Mark Manes, Adam Merten, Brandon Oettinger and Kyle Reinhart, all of Cuyahoga Falls, and Christopher Lepto and Colton Krites, both of Akron.
Scoutmaster Hedrick read the crossover challenge to the new Boy Scouts.
"This is not an ending but a new beginning," he said. "The crossover ceremony is just the first step for a new Boy Scout on the Scouting Trail toward the Rank of Eagle."
