Cuyahoga Falls -- The case of a Cuyahoga Falls man facing two felony charges in connection with reported injuries to a 2-month-old boy has been sent to a Summit County grand jury.
The baby was listed in critical condition at Akron Children's Hospital, a hospital spokesperson said March 20.
Craig Richard Wilson, 28, appeared in a preliminary hearing March 19 in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court before Judge Kim R. Hoover after police alleged he assaulted a 2-month-old boy March 12.
Wilson did not enter a plea at the hearing, according to a spokesperson for the clerk of courts office at the Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court. The spokesperson said a plea is not required at a preliminary hearing in a felony case.
The case was bound over to the grand jury of the Summit County Common Pleas Court, according to the clerk of courts office. Wilson remains free on a $25,000 10-percent bond posted March 13 at his initial hearing.
Wilson was charged with felonious assault and child endangering March 13. He was represented in court March 19 by Jonathan T. Sinn, an Akron attorney. Calls to Sinn's office and cell phone were not returned at press time.
According to a police press release, the Akron Children's Hospital notified Cuyahoga Falls police at approximately 12:21 a.m. March 13 that they were treating the child, who had been brought in by his mother, for severe head and body injuries.
Cuyahoga Falls police detectives say subsequent investigation revealed Wilson allegedly assaulted the child the evening of March 12 while caring for the infant at the infant's home.
