FirstMerit grant to help Habitat for Humanity

FirstMerit Bank was recently awarded a $132,099 Affordable Housing Program grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati.

The funds will be used to assist the Habitat for Humanity of Summit County.

With the grant, Habitat of Summit County will construct eight new homes for first-time homebuyers who are at or below 50 percent of Summit County's median income.

Four of the eight homes will be set-aside for people with special needs.

Since 2005, FirstMerit has received more than $1.8 million in AHP grants and has worked with seven sponsor organizations to construct and rehabilitate 141 units of affordable housing throughout the state of Ohio.
