Hudson -- A new face will represent the 42nd District in the state House of Representatives next year now that incumbent John Widowfield is not running.

Hudson City Council President Mike Moran will run unopposed for the Democratic ticket in the March 4 primary for the 42nd District seat in the State House. Another Hudson resident, Richard Nero, will run on the Republican ticket against Dennis L. Robart Jr. of Cuyahoga Falls.

The 42nd district comprises Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Stow, Silver Lake and Munroe Falls.

Widowfield (R-Cuyahoga Falls) did not file for the 42nd District seat and instead filed for a seat on the Summit County Council, according to the Summit County Board of Elections.

Nero of Wellgate Drive in Hudson and Robart of 12th Street in Cuyahoga Falls did not return calls by press time.

Moran, 43, of East Case Drive, was elected to Hudson City Council in 2005, and his four-year term ends in 2009. If elected to the State House, Moran would have to vacate his Council seat, which would be filled by a Council appointee.

Moran has a law degree and has worked as a manager of an editorial team for a law publishing company for the past 12 years.

Moran said because he is unopposed in the primary for Ohio in March, it gives him more time to talk to people in the district.

"It gives me a little bit more breathing room, and I look forward to communicating with people and letting the entire district get to know me," Moran said. "I look forward to cooperating and communicating with everyone from the district."

Widowfield will run against Republican incumbent Louise Heydorn of Silver Lake, who has served since 1992, in the Summit County Council primary race. The winner of that Republican primary will run against Cuyahoga Falls Democrat Paul V. Colavecchio, who is the only person who filed for the Democratic Party, in the Nov. 4 election.

Summit County Council's District 3 includes Hudson, Stow, Silver Lake and part of Cuyahoga Falls.
