set for Nov. 4
The Saint Thomas Hospital Women's Board will present its annual Brunch and Browse Nov. 4 at Saint Thomas Hospital, 444 N. Main St. in Akron from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend free of charge for the browsing for hand made professional looking items from place mats to Christmas Trees. There is an $11 charge for the brunch, which includes many food items. Children 12 and under are $6 and children five and under are free. For brunch reservations, call 330-379-5595.
Garden club lunch
set for Nov. 1
The membership of North Hampton Hill and Vale Garden Club will enjoy lunch Nov. 1 at noon in the Olde Town Hall on W. Bath Road. Members bring their own lunch, and are served dessert and beverages by a team of hostesses. The cost of the event is $3. Visitors who are interested in gardening are always welcome to attend the meetings. Those who will serve as hostesses are Lois Allaman, Ruth Eckert and Helen Holt.

The Martha Mary Guild announces events
The Martha Mary Guild's cookbooks will soon be ready for distribution. To reserve a copy, call Joan in the church office at 330-928-2991.
The Rev. John Schleup of the Tallmadge Congregational Church has begun a ministry to help and comfort returning soldiers. Schleup will speak on "Warrior's Journey Home" at the annual Thanksgiving luncheon Nov. 5.
The group's excursion this November will be to Printing Concepts in Stow where visitors will see the cookbook run on the giant presses. The group will also see the very fine collections of antique printing presses and metal as well as wooden moveable type fonts. Lunch will follow at the Rockne's Bar and Grill, located right next to Printing Concepts. The date of the excursion has not yet been set.
If individuals have homemade food items such as pumpkin breads, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin soup, pumpkin stew or any other homemade goods to go to the Ronald McDonald House, call Gary Kinsey at 330-688-2222. He will be making a delivery Nov. 29.
Wholeness workshop for women
A wholeness workshop, offering healing for body, mind and emotions, will take place Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at Crestview Baptist Church, 3943 Fishcreek Road in Stow. This free workshop will include a presentation, "Understanding Wholeness" and a discussion regarding thoughts and emotions and their impact on health. A light snack will be served. Church Women United will mark Community Day Nov. 2
Church Women United of the Tallmadge, Stow, Munroe Falls and Cuyahoga Falls area invite community members to join them in celebrating World Community Day "2007" on Nov. 2 at 9:30 a.m. at the Stow Community United Church, 1567 Pilgrim Drive, Stow. The theme this year is "Embracing Justice Under God's Tent." Refreshments will be served prior to a program presented by members of the group.
Homeowners association meets
Oct. 29
The Creekside Ridge Homeowners Association will have its first official meeting on Oct. 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Northampton Town Hall on Bath Road. The agenda will be the election of officers. Ohio University group meets Nov. 3
The Akron Association of Ohio University Women will meet Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Stow home of member Barbara Gazella. A silent auction will take place with proceeds going to the group's annual scholarship fund. Dawn Werry, assistant alumni director, will travel from Athens to update the club on campus news. Falls Mothers of Twins Club meets Nov. 1
The Cuyahoga Falls Mother of Twins Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Grandview United Methodist Church, 2315 Phelps Ave. This month the club is hosting its first Holiday Market. Attendees are invited if they have twins or are expecting them. The club is a source of support and offers fun activities and lasting friendships.

Military support group marks six years of operation
On Nov. 9, Family and Friends Connected Military Support Group will have its six-year anniversary meeting. All military families and personnel are welcome. The meeting will take place at the Naval Support Center, 800 Dan St., Akron, beginning at 6 and ending at 8 p.m. Recruiters will be in attendance.
Fish dinner every Friday at Falls VFW Post
VFW Post 1062, 1581 Main St., Cuyahoga Falls, will host a fish dinner every Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. A lake perch dinner is $7 and a chicken tenders meal is available for $6.
Gemboree is Oct. 28
The Gemboree, sponsored by the Akron Mineral Society and the Summit Lapidary Club, will take place Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Emidio and Sons Expo Center, 48 E. Bath Road, Cuyahoga Falls.

Retired educators invited to Nov. 5 meeting
Local retired educators are invited to attend the next meeting of the Summit County Retired Teachers' Association at noon on Nov. 5 at Guy's Party Center, 500 E. Waterloo Road, Akron.
Following a lunch, there will be an induction of new officers for 2008 and a memorial service for friends and colleagues who passed away this year.
