Senior captain Megan Goubeaux is showing how much she has improved as she's leading the Cuyahoga Falls girls golf team in the early season.

Thus far, the experienced Goubeaux has been the Back Tigers low scorer in each match (3-2 overall) and has two top five finishes in major tournaments this season.

Goubeaux was fifth overall out of 62 at the annual Flo Barr Invitational at Meadowlake Golf Club Aug. 20 in Canton. She also placed fifth out of 78 at the Midwest Shootout Aug. 21 in Canton at Skyland Pines, where the team was 12th out of 16 teams.

"Megan is certainly leading us this year in scoring average, plus she has been the medalist, or our low team scorer, in every one of our matches and tournaments," stressed head coach Mary Mozingo.

Goubeaux fired an 83 at the Midwest Shootout while junior returnee Ashley Cottrill has also scored in every match this year. Cottrill had a 103, followed by sophomore Maddy Hendershot had 108, and senior Michelle Hughes was at 115.

Both Hughes and senior Courtney Konic are back as Konic has scored in five matches this season. Sophomore Madison Alvis has scored as well this year. Final results of the NOC division league play opener Aug 25 at Twinsburg were not available.

At the Flo Barr, the Tigers placed fourth out of 14 teams with a 363.

Supporting Goubeaux (81) was Konic, who had an outstanding round of 91. Hughes carded a 92, and Cottrill had 99.
