Ethel Mashek celebrated her 99th birthday on Aug. 15 with her two sons, Carl S. Mashek of Cuyahoga Falls and the Rev. John D. Mashek of Akron, and family.
Ethel was born Aug. 15, 1911, in Akron to Andy and Mary Szegedi. She attended Glover Elementary, Miller Junior High, and South High schools. She married Steve Mashek on June 9, 1934. He passed away on May 11, 2002.
Ethel still resides on North Hill with her son, John, and enjoys taking car rides with him through South Akron and Cuyahoga Falls.
