Open House set at Woodridge Intermediate Woodridge Intermediate School will have its Open House Aug. 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The students' first day of school is Aug. 24. This will give the students and parents a chance to meet their child's new teacher and talk with them informally. They will be able to visit their classroom and tour the building to visit the other teachers. Unified Arts and Special Education teachers will be on hand for parents and students to meet. This will help to reduce a lot of stress for children on their first day back. They will know where their classroom is located and will have met their new teacher before coming to school. Packets of important information, which normally are given to the child to bring home on the first day, will be given to each family that evening. Parents can complete the information such as emergency medical cards and lunch forms and return them the next school day. Classroom supply lists will also be available if needed. The local Marc's and Target stores also have WIS school supply lists posted. Parents and students should feel free to bring supplies already purchased with them that evening. The PTO will be on hand, as well as other informational tables. In addition to prize donations, Duck Race sponsorships are also available: Gold at $100, Silver at $50 and Bronze at $25. Donors will be provided a certificate to post at their business and will be featured as sponsors at the Duck Race. This year's race will take place at Water Works Park on Aug. 27, beginning at 5 p.m. Adopt a duck to watch and cheer on as the ducks swim to the finish line. Festivities will include music, games with prizes, concessions and a dunk tank, with the Duck Race starting at 6 p.m. Adoption Certificates are $5/duck or a "Quack Pack" (five ducks) for $20.
