DENNIS ALAN HAYNES Teacher in Akron Public Schools Dennis Alan Haynes, 69, died unexpectedly on July 18, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident. Born in Akron on July 19, 1940 to the late Kneale Matt and Norma Haynes, Mr. Haynes had been a lifetime area resident. He was a 1958 graduate of North High School and later graduated from the University of Akron with a Ph.D. in Education. He retired as a teacher and administrator for the Akron Public School System, where he worked for more than 30 years. Mr. Haynes was a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ and was recently attending the United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls, where he served as a Deacon. He was active in the church choirs and many other church groups. Mr. Haynes served as a board member for the Towpath Credit Union, was a member of the educator's association Phi Delta Kappa, the Lone Star Fraternity, The Optimist Club, and also served as a volunteer for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. In addition to his parents, Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by his sister Janet Houlette. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Wendy and Todd Fincham of Stow, Jennifer and Christopher Blasio of Sagamore Hills, and Erin and Christopher White of Stow; brother Eric (Beth) Haynes of Akron and sister Judy Sours of Oklahoma; brother-in-law Bud Houlette. Mr. Haynes also leaves behind his grandchildren, Nathan and Mathew Blasio and Taylor "Sunny" and Mikayla White, several nieces and one nephew. A funeral service took place at the United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls, the Rev. Adam Marquette officiating. Interment followed at Chestnut Hill Memorial Gardens. McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, an Anthony Funeral Home, was in charge of arrangements. Comments
