by Pamela Engel Reporter Stow -- A new veterinary clinic that opened in June aims to provide accessible veterinary care to animals at a lower cost than most people are used to, the clinic's manager said. Primary Pet Care, 3661 Fishcreek Road, Stow, will provide vaccinations; heartworm and feline leukemia testing; heartworm and flea preventatives; and low cost treatment for minor illnesses, lameness and skin conditions. The clinic opened for business June 12, and the grand opening was June 18. Joe Elton, co-owner and manager of the clinic, has been managing in the veterinary industry for more than three years and said he hopes to help animals get the care they deserve. Elton lives in Cuyahoga Falls. "Our goal is to make veterinary care accessible to some of the animals who haven't received it for a long time because they haven't been able to afford it," Elton said. "We're trying to close that gap and make it a little bit easier for them." An average visit is about 10 minutes, and customers do not need an appointment, Elton said. The clinic is a limited-service facility, meaning it does not offer emergency care. John Gifford, co-owner and clinic veterinarian, is a 1984 graduate of The Ohio State University and a doctor of veterinary medicine. He has been practicing medicine for more than 26 years. The clinic's hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 5:30 p.m.; Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The clinic is closed on Sunday.
