The event will celebrate its seventh year and has raised more than $200,000 since its inception. In May 2004, the "CF Open" was renamed in honor of Leo, a past participant in that event and area resident, who lost his battle with cystic fibrosis (CF) that year. Throughout his 44-year battle with CF and despite a difficult lung transplant, Leo remained an avid golfer and a strong advocate for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This tournament gives golfers the opportunity to "Go the Distance" and play 36 holes of golf -- or 18 holes, with no cost difference. For those golfing 36 holes, there is a 7:45 a.m. shotgun start. For others, registration, a putting contest and time at the driving range begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch and a shotgun start for all golfers at 1 p.m. Dinner, cocktails, a program and awards take place in the evening following play.
