Trinity United Church of Christ Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St. will continue to host Monday Evening Prayer and Bible Study every Monday evening at 7:30. There are no special requirements or skills that one needs to bring. Just come and share in the joyous spirit of studying and praying as one. Pray Without Ceasing. Trinity's prayer time is 7:30 a.m. and/or 7:30 p.m. daily. Prayer is a powerful thing. Worship in the Park. Joins Trinity UCC at Water Works Park in Cuyahoga Falls Aug. 22 for worship, a band concert and lunch. The group will gather at 10 a.m. with the worship service starting at 10:30 a.m. Following worship the Trinity Band will provide a summer concert in the park setting. Next they will gather around the tables for an assortment of summer foods. Bring lawn chairs and table service. Worship service will continue on the 10:30 a.m. schedule throughout the summer with announcements beginning at 10:20 in the Sanctuary. The topic will be the Gospel of Mark. As in previous sessions, people from the wider community outside of St. John's are welcome to attend. Contact Ed Clarke so that books can be ordered. Thirty-seven hats and scarves were sent to New York to the Seamens Institute for their Christmas at Sea program. It is time to start knitting again for next year's offering. Anyone wanting to join in this ministry, the patterns are on the bulletin board, or see Jean Borda. Anna Marie Shall is also interested in anyone knitting nine-inch squares for the Keep Akron Warm program. See her for directions. Picture will be taken between services on Aug. 15 for the pictorial directory. This is the last day for these professional pictures to be included in the yearbook. The Double T Quilt Club will not meet at the church on its regular date Aug. 19. The meeting will take place at Water Works Park for the annual picnic. The Forward Day by Day is a pocket-sized booklet of daily meditations on a scripture verse taken from the Episcopal Church lectionary for the day. Issues are printed every three months; the current issue, including large-print, are available now. Cost is a free-will offering. The church is located at 2220 2nd St. Parking is across the street. Grandview United Methodist Church On Aug. 15, the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service will take place under the big tent in the front yard followed by an ice cream social at no charge. The church will host a Craft Fair and Sale on Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A table can be reserved for this event for $35. The church is located at 2315 Phelps Ave. Northminster Presbyterian Church The Northminster Presbyterian Church, 104 W. Portage Trail Extension, invites the community to its Sunday morning worship service at 10:30. On Aug. 22, Communion Sunday, the Rev. Stephanie Crossland will speak on "No Excuses." Aug. 29 is the last of the church's outdoor services, called B. Y. O. C. (Bring Your Own Chair), where the congregation will meet in the memorial grove, beyond the pavilion. Rev. Crossland will focus on "The Choice to Love," and Mary Anne Beach will play the Irish Whistle. Also, immediately following the outdoor service, the congregation will serve a variety of ice cream and toppings in the pavilion to mark the end of summer. In the event of rain, the service will move inside to the sanctuary. The Northminster Book Club will continue to meet on the third Monday of each month at 1:15 p.m. in the church lounge. On Aug. 16, the club will be discussing "An Altar in the World" written by Barbara Brown Taylor. The Northminster Craft Guild meets on the third Wednesday and Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for any woman who is interested in any craft. The next meetings will be Aug. 18 and 21. L.I.G.H.T.-Learning In God's House Together (the children's Sunday School program) is on a short summer break. The group will not be gathering at 9:30 a.m. in August. Faith Focus will be offered for ages 3 through grade 2 during morning worship following the children's sermon. Groups that meet weekly at Pilgrim include: Adult Bible Study, Tuesdays at 10 a.m.; Emotions Anonymous, Thursdays at 8 p.m.; Alcoholics Anonymous, Saturdays at 8 p.m. Pilgrim will also host a Free Community Lunch the second Saturday of every month. The next date to enjoy a complimentary hot meal with the community is Sept. 11 at noon. Looking for a place to park during Cuyahoga Falls' Rockin' on the River? Park in the church lot at a prime location on the corner of Second Street and Broad Boulevard. All proceeds benefit Pilgrim's Free Community Lunch Program. The Evangelism Board invites the community to an outdoor movie night featuring the film, "Little Manhattan," on Aug. 22 at 8:30 p.m. "Little Manhattan" is a feel-good comedy that's perfect for kids and adults alike. In a city known for excitement, two young friends are about to embark on the greatest adventure of all. Filled with all the magical, marvelous and maddening moments of first love, this charming film is fun for the whole family. Adults and children of all ages are welcome to attend this "drive-in movie" experience at Pilgrim complete with an outdoor movie, playground access and popcorn. In the case of inclement weather, the event will take place in the Social Hall. First United Methodist Church First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, offers a Weekday Preschool which is taking registrations for fall. The program offers morning and afternoon classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and is for ages 3 (potty trained), 4 and 5. First Church offers a Wednesday program for children called The R.O.C.K. (The Reality of Christ for Kids.) The program will run between 4:15 and 7 p.m. each Wednesday for preschoolers through sixth grade and offers choir, chimes, crafts, boomwhackers, cooking, puppets, chess, bells, Bible stories, mission projects, dinner and more. First Church offers an active program for teens on Sunday evenings September through May with special events in the summer, a camping program and yearly tour for members of the Epworth youth choir. The weekly meetings begin on Aug. 28 with choir at 5 p.m. followed by a Road Rally at 6 p.m. There will be a snack supper ($3). The evening ends at 8 p.m. All are welcome. Grace Summit Community Church offers free backpacks Grace Summit Community Church is offering free backpacks with supplies for elementary students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Supplies are limited, so registration is required by calling the church at 330-922-3550 by Aug. 18. The backpacks will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 21 and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 22. Bethany United Church of Christ The Men's Volunteer Breakfast is a great time for men of the church to get together to share faith, food, and fellowship together; as well as a few chores with which the custodians could use some help. The men gather the third Wednesday of the month at 8 a.m. (Next breakfast Aug. 18.) Teacher Appreciation Night is Aug. 20 at the Aeros' ballgame. Family Sunday is Aug. 22 and Rev.
