Trinity United Church of Christ

Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St. will continue to host Monday Evening Prayer and Bible Study every Monday evening at 7:30. There are no special requirements or skills that you need to bring. Just come and share in the joyous spirit of studying and praying as one.

Pray Without Ceasing. Trinity's prayer time is 7:30 a.m. and/or 7:30 p.m. daily.

Hallelujah Service. Aug. 1 will be an open air service on the front lawn by the gazebo. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the fellowship. The service will be followed by a light lunch. If there is inclement weather the service will be moved to the sanctuary.

Worship in the Park. Join Trinity UCC at Water Works Park in Cuyahoga Falls Aug. 22 for worship, a band concert and lunch. Gather at 10 a.m. The worship service will start at 10:30 a.m. Following worship, the Trinity Band will provide a summer concert in the park setting. Bring lawn chairs and table service.

St. John's Episcopal Church

St. John's supports the Good Neighbors every Sunday with donations of food items; however, on the first two Sundays in August the church will be collecting school supplies for GN's annual School Drive. Cash donations will be gratefully accepted and used for shoes, clothing and school supplies.

The Children's Chat is presented after the sermon at the 10 a.m. service. The Aug. 8 Chat will be "Pentecost, What Do We Inherit From God?"

St. Margaret's picnic will be Aug. 12, 11:30 at Water Works Park. A short business meeting will follow the lunch.

The church is located at 2220 2nd St. Parking is across the street. Handicap facilities are available.

Grandview United Methodist Church

Grandview United Methodist Church, 2315 Phelps Ave., is planning its first "Grandview Community Fun Fest 5K and Then Some" on Aug. 14 from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. The event starts with the 5K run and kids costumed fun run. Other children's activities scheduled throughout the day are Big Wheel/tricycle race, balloon toss, potato sack race, puppet show, cake walk, face painting, watermelon eating contest and more.

On Aug. 15, the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service will take place under the big tent in the yard followed by a corn roast and ice cream social at no charge. Everyone is invited to attend these special events.

Northminster Presbyterian Church

The Northminster Presbyterian Church is located at 104 W. Portage Trail Ext.Tickets are on sale now for the church's Swiss Steak Dinner on Aug. 6 from 5-7 p.m. in the Atkins Fellowship Hall. Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12 and children 4 and younger are free. Tickets can be purchased in the church office during office hours (10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays). Tickets will also be sold at the door.

Chapel Hill Church

Chapel Hill Church, 1160 Howe Ave. (under the white water tower), will have Vacation Bible School Aug. 2-6. All boys and girls, ages 4 through fifth grade completed, are welcome to come and share in this week featuring Bible stories, songs, games, refreshments and crafts. Sessions begin at 9:15 a.m. and end at noon each day. The theme is SonQuest Rainforest. Admission is free. For more information, call 330-929-1924.

Pilgrim United Church of Christ

Pilgrim United Church of Christ invites community members to grow in their faith this Sunday through Christian Education at 9:30 a.m. or to experience the living presence of God through worship at 10:30 a.m. The church on the corner of Broad Boulevard and Second Street is handicap accessible. L.I.G.H.T., Learning In God's House Together (the church's children's Sunday School program), is on a short summer break. The group will not be gathering at 9:30 a.m. for the months of August. Faith Focus will be offered for ages 3 through grade two during morning worship following the children's sermon.

Groups that meet weekly at Pilgrim include: Adult Bible Study, Tuesdays at 10 a.m.; Emotions Anonymous, Thursdays at 8 p.m.; Alcoholics Anonymous, Saturdays at 8 p.m. Pilgrim will host a free community lunch the second Saturday of every month. The next date to enjoy a complimentary hot meal with the community is Aug. 14 at noon.

Aug. 9-11: Save the dates for "Adventures with God Camp." This camp is open to all kids who have completed kindergarten through the sixth grade. The theme this year is "Why Am I Here? The Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors unit is asking the community to support its annual School Drive to benefit the children in need in the area. This year's drive will take place Aug. 10-12. In addition to cash donations, the following items are needed: school boxes, pens/pencils, filler paper, backpacks, glue, scissors, markers, erasers, protractors, loose leaf binders, pocket folders, rulers, small dictionaries and pencil sharpeners.

Donations can be dropped off in the marked bin outside the church office.

Pantry items currently needed include: canned fruit, cereal, noodles, Jello, soaps, and detergent.

First United Methodist Church

Women, register now for "Jesus the One and Only," which is a Beth Moore Bible Study at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, beginning in September.

There is a study on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon. The 11-week video study begins Sept. 14 and 15. The work book is $16. To register call Kathy Kuzas at First Church, 330-923-5241, ext. 210 by Sept. 2. This study takes attendees on a life-changing journey which will lead them through the hills of Galilee with the Teacher, across the lake with the Master, and finally, on the road toward the cross with the Savior.

There is an Alzheimer Caregivers Support Group meeting at First Church the first Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the church parlor. The next meeting is Aug. 3. Respite care is available by calling the Alzheimer's Association at 330-864-5646 by noon on the Monday before the meeting.

First Church Weekday Preschool is taking registrations for fall. The program offers morning and afternoon classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and is for ages 3 (potty trained), 4 and 5. Information and a packet may be picked up at the church or call the director, Sharon Watson, at 330-923-5241, ext. 220.

New Hope Christian Fellowship

A revival called "Acquire the Fire" with Evangelist Ted McClellan will take place Aug. 6, 7, and 8. at 7. Special music provided. The public is invited to attend. New Hope Christian Fellowship is located at 1157 Riverside Drive, Akron.

United Presbyterian Church

"Joseph's Journey from Prison to Palace" is the theme of this year's Vacation Bible School, which will take place Aug. 9-12 from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. Contact the church for more information and for registration. VBS 2010 is a program for children in kindergarten through the fifth grade.
