Caitlyn and Maria Toth, sisters from Parma, have taken up a collection of Dawn blue liquid dishwashing liquid to help save the wildlife being destroyed in the Gulf of Mexico.

The main two organizations working on the oil spill are Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research and the International Bird Rescue Research Center (IBRRC). It was recommended to the Toth sisters the bottles that were collected be sent to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary (SSS).

More than 30 years ago, the IBRRC discovered that Dawn (blue) dishwashing liquid was powerful enough to effectively remove oil from birds' feathers, while remaining gentle on their feathers, skin and eyes.

In June, the SSS began deploying rescue teams with supplies to affected areas. Recently, they received a donation of a warehouse to store supplies anticipating the large amount of Dawn that will be coming. They have stopped accepting Dawn locally and have enough to keep them stocked with Dawn until a delivery that will be made in August.

Patti Prokesh is a co-owner of Team Worldwide, an independent logistics company based in Middleburg Heights. After seeing the Facebook page, Team Worldwide (CLE) volunteered to ship and deliver the collected bottles to SSS in Indian Shores, Florida in August at no charge.

Various businesses across the country have jumped on board to support this cause. The UPS Store #6153 in Cuyahoga Falls will be taking any Dawn donations as well as donating 50 bottles to the cause on their own. Jeromy Clark, The UPS Store Owner, said "This disaster is something that will long affect our wildlife and I admire the Toth girls for taking steps to try and save these birds and other animals being hurt."

The UPS Store is located at 1220 Buchholzer Blvd. The phone number is 330-928-2877.

All donations must be made by July 31.
