Electronics, jewelry, $2 bill reported stolen in burglary

Cuyahoga Falls -- A resident of the 1200 block of Curtis Avenue reported on July 17 that her home was burglarized between 8 a.m. July 10 and 5:15 p.m. July 17.

The following items were reported stolen: two jewelry boxes, a watch, digital picture frame, DVD player, two video game systems, laptop, cell phone, computer and monitor, $400 savings bond and a $2 bill.

Police say the victim believes entry was made through an unlocked rear window on the ground floor. Loss was $2,472.

Theft

July 20 -- Steel parts missing. The president of a steel company in the 3400 block of Cavalier Trail reported someone stole 31 machined parts from an outdoor storage area between 7:30 p.m. July 19 and 6 a.m. July 20. The loss was $7,254.

July 16 -- Cranes lifted. The owner of an industrial supply company on Marc Drive reported someone stole five cranes along with a charcoal grill and two tires and rims between 10 p.m. July 15 and 9 a.m. July 16. Total loss was $5,300.

Breaking and entering

July 19 -- Tools stolen. A construction company owner reported someone entered a vacant, locked house he is renovating in the 1600 block of 11th Street and took a miter saw, metal extension table and compressor between 5:30 p.m. July 16 and 9 a.m. July 19. Loss was $1,200. There was no sign of forced entry.

Domestic violence

July 17 -- Husband arrested. A 31-year-old Falls man was arrested and charged with domestic violence after his wife told police he grabbed her by the neck around 2:30 p.m. Police said she had a red mark on her neck but refused medical treatment.

Vandalism

July 17 -- Car windows broken. The sales manager of a car lot in the 1700 block of Front Street reported that someone used a rock to damage the windshields of three cars owned by the company between 5 p.m. July 16 and 9 a.m. July 17. Damage was $1,200.

Prohibited weapon

July 16 -- Teen cited. An 18-year-old Akron man was arrested and charged with having a prohibited weapon after he was seen with a fixed-blade knife in a sheath on Riverfront Parkway at 10:30 p.m. The man was cited and released.

Accidents

July 16 -- Car vs. truck. A 46-year-old Falls woman driving east on Broad Boulevard was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 32-year-old Akron man at Front Street around 7:10 a.m. The Akron man, who was turning left from Broad Boulevard westbound onto Front Street, was cited for failure to yield the right of way. No injuries were reported. The car had functional damage; the truck, non-functional.

July 16 -- Driver cited. Driver inattention, police say, was to blame for a one-car crash on Albemarle Street at 3:15 p.m. An 18-year-old Falls man was turning left from Hillcrest Drive onto Albemarle when his car drove over a curb and struck a fire hydrant. Unhurt, he was cited for failure to control. His car had functional damage. The hydrant has no visible damage, said Water/Sewer Superintendent John Christopher.

July 14 -- Driver hospitalized. A 38-year-old Falls man was taken to Summa Western Reserve Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries after an accident at 3:10 p.m. He was stopped facing west on Broad Boulevard almost at State Road when his truck was rear-ended by a car driven by a 26-year-old Falls woman. The woman, who was not injured, was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

Drug abuse

July 9 -- Arrest on Front. Two Akron men, both 21, were arrested and charged with drug abuse in the 2000 block of Front Street after they were found in possession of suspected marijuana around 9:30 p.m. after officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the parked vehicle in which they were sitting.
