Richard E. Rubin has been named Kent State University's associate provost for extended education, KSU Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Robert G. Frank recently announced.
As associate provost, Rubin will oversee extended education programs at Kent State, including the day-to-day activities of the Office of Continuing and Distance Education, University Press and Summer Programs. He assumed his new duties July 1.
"Rick's high level of insight into the educational process, combined with his operational administration background, will bring us to a new level of success in our extended education and summer programs," Frank said. "I look forward to the impact he will have in this important role."
Rubin, a Cuyahoga Falls resident, currently is professor and director of the School of Library and Information Science at Kent State.
Previously, he served in the roles of interim dean for the College of Communication and Information, associate professor and assistant professor at Kent State.
Before joining Kent State, Rubin served as visiting assistant professor for the Graduate School of Library and Information Science and research assistant for the Library Research Center of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Rubin earned his doctor of philosophy from the University of Illinois.
He earned a Master of Library Science from Kent State and a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College.
