Cuyahoga Falls -- A 33-year-old Hanover Street man was arrested and charged with domestic violence and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after police say he physically accosted his father for refusing to drive him to the store or loaning him the keys to the car. According to the report, the suspect went into his father's bedroom while he was in bed around 11:20 p.m. July 6 and demanded he take him to the store. The father told him no and denied him use of his car because the son's license was suspended. The son then grabbed his father by the wrist and pulled him out of bed to his feet and grabbed his father's car keys and threatened to beat him up if he tried to stop him. No injuries were reported. The son then drove away in his father's car. He was later arrested. Theft July 11 -- Shoplifter caught. A 41-year-old Falls woman was arrested and charged with theft after she walked out of a business in the 1700 block of State Road at 5:15 p.m. with two cans of beer and a bottle of wine she didn't pay for. Valued at $14, the property was retained by the owner. The woman was also charged with criminal trespassing because she had been told before not to come into the store because of a prior incident. July 6 -- Credit card used. A Northfield woman reported someone stole her wallet at a business in the 100 block of Howe Avenue between 4 and 6:30 p.m. According to a report, a credit card that was inside the wallet was used to purchase more than $1,300 worth of merchandise at a store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue. Total loss was $2,035. July 5 -- Purse snatched. A resident of the 2000 block of 16th Street reported someone entered her minivan between 5:40 and 6:10 p.m. while it was parked in her driveway with the windows down and took her purse. The purse contained her cell phone, driver's license, debit card and $232 in cash. Total loss was estimated at $302. Assault July 10 -- Nursing home attack. A nurse reported a physical altercation between two residents of a nursing home on Chart Road at 1:30 p.m. According to the report, a 72-year-old male pushed and choked a 92-year-old female who was taken to Summa Western Reserve Hospital with minor injuries. The case was referred to the Detective Bureau. Forgery July 9 -- Teen charged. A 15-year-old Falls boy was arrested and charged with forgery after his father reported someone stole a blank check out of his checkbook on July 7, forged his signature and cashed it in the amount of $100. He was cited and released to his parents. Breaking and entering July 9 -- Tobacco products taken. The owner of a business in the 2100 block of State Road reported someone gained access through a drive-through window at 3:10 a.m. and stole $115 worth of cigarettes and cigars. Accidents July 9 -- Teen cited. A 16-year-old Falls boy was cited for right of way at an intersection following an accident at 10:15 p.m. According to the report, the teen was traveling south on Sixth Street when he stopped for the red flasher at Broad Boulevard and then proceeded into the intersection, not seeing another vehicle approaching from the west on Broad which had the yellow flasher. The teen struck the other vehicle which was being driven by a 30-year-old Streetsboro man. No one was injured. Both vehicles sustained non-functional damage. July 8 -- Driver hospitalized. A 45-year-old Falls man was taken to Akron City Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries, police said, after an accident at 7:11 p.m. The man was traveling west on Falls Avenue when his car hit another car traveling south on 16th Street that ran a stop sign, causing that other car to flip onto its side. The other driver was cited for stop sign violation. The 45-year-old Falls man told police he got distracted by his 3-year-old son. Neither of them were injured. Both cars, however, had disabling damage. Disorderly conduct July 8 -- Teen arrested. A 17-year-old Falls boy was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and juvenile delinquency after he was found extremely intoxicated, according to the report, and staggering at Hudson Drive and Bailey Road around 10:45 p.m. The boy was released to his mother. Improperly handling a firearm July 7 -- North Carolinian nabbed. A 29-year-old Charlotte, N.C., man was arrested and charged with improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle shortly after 1 a.m. in Gorge Park. The man, police said, accidentally discharged three rounds from his .38-caliber handgun while operating his vehicle. Possession of fireworks July 4 -- Man charged. A 23-year-old Falls man was arrested at 11:13 p.m. and charged with possession of fireworks after police say he discharged fireworks in the 1900 block of Searl Street near the soccer fields at Sill Middle School.
