Falls woman reports assault at hands of other woman

A woman reported that a woman she knows attacked her while she was walking down Lancaster Street and East Broadway shortly before 10 p.m. June 28. The woman stated the other woman slammed her up against a car and then began to strike her after throwing her to the ground. The victim was transported to Summa Western Reserve Hospital for possible back injuries sustained in the assault. The victim wants to prosecute.

Domestic violence

June 26 -- Altercation reported. A woman reported at 11:42 p.m. she and the father of her baby she is pregnant with, got into a verbal argument. The woman says the man grabbed her left arm and wouldn't let go. She then slapped him to get him to let go. She attempted and threatened to call the police. He then began choking the woman; she told police the choking lasted for three minutes. The man left the scene. The police said they did not see any visible marks on her neck and she claimed no injuries at the time of the report.

June 26 -- Man arrested. A 23-year-old Falls man was arrested and charged with domestic violence after he was observed pushing, dragging and punching a 24-year-old Falls woman, the mother of his children. She was treated by Falls EMS. The incident was reported at 12:37 a.m.

Disorderly conduct-fighting

June 25 -- Fight reported. A 17-year-old Falls boy and a 16-year-old Falls boy were fighting at Portage Trail and Front Street at 11 p.m. Both were arrested and referred to the juvenile diversion program.

Theft

June 25 -- Items stolen. A Falls woman reported someone entered her red 1996 Dodge Neon and removed her $300 Sony AM/FM CD player while it was parked in her parking lot in the 3400 block of Prange Drive. The incident occurred sometime between 8 p.m. June 24 and noon June 25.

June 21 -- Syringe missing. A State Road business employee reported someone gained entry to her vehicle through the window which was slightly open and took her purse with wallet and bank cards, driver's license, a syringe for her medical condition and other miscellaneous items. The purse was later returned to her with only the syringe missing. She wants to prosecute. The incident occurred sometime between 11:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Drug paraphernalia

June 24 -- Resident faces drug charge. A 31-year-old Falls man was found in possession of a silver and black metal marijuana pipe with residue at Tallmadge Avenue and Newberry Street at about 7:30 p.m. The man was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

June 24 -- Marijuana pipes found in apartment. A 28-year-old Falls man was found in possession of two marijuana pipes, rolling papers, burnt screens and other paraphernalia in his apartment in the 2200 block of High Street. He was arrested and charged with drug paraphernalia.

Burglary

June 24 -- Break-in reported. A Falls woman reported someone entered her home in the 3400 block of Prange Drive by unknown means and moved around and disturbed miscellaneous personal items of hers. The incident occurred sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Accidents

June 27 -- Car-deer crash. A 56-year-old Akron man at 5:50 a.m. was northbound on Route 8 in the right lane when a deer ran westbound across the road way in front of the vehicle, causing the car to strike it. The driver was not injured, but the car had disabling damage.

June 26 -- Accident on Route 8. A 30-year-old Akron man at 11:30 a.m. was northbound on Route 8 near the Front Street exit ramp in the right lane when another car forced the Akron man's car off the road and into the grass median. The Akron man's vehicle struck a drainage pipe before coming to rest. The driver and youth passenger in the back seat were treated by Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department and released at the scene. Both had possible injuries. The car had functional damage.

June 25 -- Motorcycle crash. A 35-year-old Falls man was fleeing from police on his motorcycle and was traveling north on the entrance ramp from Front Street to Route 8 when he ran off the road to the right, struck the curb, went back onto the road and was ejected from his motorcycle at 10:44 p.m. He had incapacitating injuries and was taken to Akron City Hospital, according to the accident report. The man was cited for reckless operation.

Village of Silver Lake

June 25 -- Vandalism at picnic shelter. The Silver Lake Service Department advised police that someone spray painted a picture of a gun and the numbers "440" in the picnic shelter area behind Village Hall. A racial slur was scratched into the fireplace mantel.

Police were notified about the vandalism at about 2:30 p.m. Police Chief Gary DeMoss said the service department was planning to use a power washer to clean up the graffiti. DeMoss said police do not have any leads or suspects, and added that there have not been any other similar incidents reported.
