St. John's Episcopal Church

The newly formed "Christmas Shop Committee" is sponsoring this year's giveaway. The committee is seeking donations of practical gifts, like hats, scarves, gloves, and toiletries, as well as toys. See Greta Myers for more details.

The 10 a.m. Sunday service is changing for the summer. In the interest of shortening the service, the Second Lesson and the Nicene Creed will be left out, the sermon will be limited to six pages and only two verses of the opening and closing hymns will be sung. The passing of the peace will be limited to five minutes and the service will be under 60 minutes all summer long. In the absence of air conditioning, all windows will be kept open and every attempt will be to keep the Knave as cool as possible. The Double T Quilt Club will meet June 17 at 6:30 p.m. A mini-garage sale is planned. The church is located at 2220 Second St. Handicapped facilities and parking across the street are available.

Bailey Road Christian Church

Summer hours, June 13-Sept. 5: A morning worship service is offered Sundays at 10 a.m. Nursery care is available for children 4 and younger. There will be no Sunday school during summer hours.

On Sundays at 7 p.m., a contemporary praise service is offered. On the first and third Tuesdays of every month, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., the Happy Hands sewing group meets. Its members make quilts for Children's Hospital and Crossroads Hospice. Any donation of material and thread is appreciated.

Every Wednesday of the month (with the exception that it is on Tuesday of the second week) chair dancing, a seated exercise program, is offered at 12:30 p.m.

On the last Friday of every month a community spaghetti dinner is served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Adults, $7; Children 4-10, $4; under 4, free.

Vacation Bible School will be presented from July 18-22 at 6:30 p.m. The theme will be, "Son Harvest Country Fair," which teaches about the fruits of the spirit. Vacation Bible School is intended for those 4-13.

Northminster Presbyterian Church

Northminster Presbyterian Church, 104 W. Portage Trail Extension, will continue throughout the summer to host its Sunday morning worship service at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Stephanie Crossland. Plan to attend the next two outdoor B. Y. O. C. (Bring Your Own Chair) Sunday morning worship services on July 18 and Aug. 29. Meet in the memorial grove, beyond the picnic pavilion, with your own lawn chair, and dress is casual. In the event of rain, the congregation will move inside to the sanctuary.

The Northminster Book Club will continue to meet throughout the summer. The next meeting will be June 21 at 1:15 in the church lounge, to discuss the book "The Fall" by Simon Mawer. Everyone is welcome and is encouraged to bring a friend.

An adult evening of fun, fellowship and good food is being planned for June 25 at 6 p.m. at the church, sponsored by the Northminster Friendship Group.

During the summer, the church will continue to try to fill its grocery cart for Good Neighbors, on the second Sunday of each month, with non-perishable food items and brown grocery bags.

Graham Road Baptist Church

Graham Road Baptist Church will host the Vacation Bible School titled "Seaquest: Diving for God's Treasure" July 11-16 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. It will be open to all children from age 4 to sixth grade. Graham Road Baptist Church is located at 705 Graham Road, Cuyahoga Falls.

St Joseph's Flea Market

St. Joseph's is seeking people who would like to participate in the St. Joseph's Flea Market. One can sell treasures, toys, crafts, woodworking items, records, antiques and furniture. First United Methodist Church

Galactic Blast Vacation Bible School is at First United Methodist Church, Third Street and Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls, during the week of June 21-25 from 9 a.m. - noon. It is for children ages 3 and potty trained to children entering fourth grade. There is also Survivor Challenge Galactic Style for kids entering fifth and sixth grade which is a hands-on mission program. The cost is $5 per child for the week or a maximum of $10 for a family. A new young adult ministry is beginning at First Church. Recent graduates or adults in their 20s are invited to a cookout on June 18 from 7-9 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers and desserts are provided. Westchester Youth Choir from Westchester United Methodist Church in Pennsylvania is giving a concert at First Church on June 19 at 7 p.m.. All are invited to hear this great group of youth. Child care is available and a free will offering will be taken.

A Group of Guys invite the men of the community to join the men at First Church for a summer Sunday School exploring an EPIC (Experiential, Participatory, Image-rich, Connective) faith with "The Gospel According to Starbucks - Living with a Grande Passion" starting June 20 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church. First Church Golf League is sponsoring their fifth annual golf outing in memory of longtime member Walter "Bud" Mills. Sign up for this event which will tale place at Brookledge Golf Course in Cuyahoga Falls on June 25. The format will be a four-person scramble with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. The cost is $75 per person and will include 18 holes with cart, range balls, beverages on the course, snack pack, welcome package, a catered steak dinner following play, prizes and more.

First United Methodist Church of Akron

Everyone is invited to a spaghetti dinner June 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. In addition to spaghetti with meat sauce, there will be salad, bread, beverage and dessert. Tickets for the dinner are $6 for adults, and children ages 3-12 are $3. The dinners take place on the third Friday of each month.

The church will have an Ice Cream Social after the worship service on July 4. Ice cream sundaes will be served in the social hall. There is no charge for this.

The church is located at 263 E. Mill St. in Akron, two blocks north of the University of Akron campus. Everyone is welcome.

First Christian Church

First Christian Church in Cuyahoga Falls would like to invite children in the community to participate in the fourth Annual ADAM's Kids Fine Arts Summer Camp. ADAM's Kids is an acronym for Art, Drama and Music and is a seven-week program that occurs in the evenings. Children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade will learn music, staging and create art projects which will culminate in the final musical production of Splash Kingdom by Pam Andrews on July 29. Camp participants meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The fee for the entire camp is $6 per child with a maximum of $15 per family. Financial scholarships are available for families with financial hardships.

The first meeting will take place at the church on June 15 at 5:30 p.m.

Bethany United Church of Christ

Bethany United Church of Christ welcomes the community to worship with the congregation each Sunday at 8:30 (in the Social Hall) and 9:30 a.m. (in the Sanctuary). Sunday School for children will be during the 9:30 hour. Nursery is available from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Bethany's volunteer nurses will offer blood pressure tests during social hour June 13. Bethany Kitchen is June 19 at 11:30 a.m. Bethany Kitchen provides a free luncheon for those in the community who need a meal. Help is always needed for food preparation, serving and cleaning up.

All are welcome. The next Interfaith Hospitality Network host week begins June 27.

Trinity United Church of Christ in Akron

Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St. in Akron will have a morning music camp for children ages 5 through 13 from June 21 through 25 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Broadman Baptist Church

Broadman Baptist Church is located at 350 E. Bath Road.

Children in Action - CIA will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday from now through Aug. 25.

Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to be CIA agents in training for God's Mission Possible at Broadman Baptist Church.

The church's Golf League will take at 5:30 p.m. every Friday from now through Aug. 27 at Riverwoods Golf Course, 1870 Akron-Peninsula Road Akron 44313.

On June 13, a hiking spree will take place at 3 p.m. Participants should meet at the Barlow Road Bike and Hike parking lot at 331 Barlow Road, Hudson.

A Deacon's Meeting will take place June 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Women's Bible Study will take place June 15 at 7 p.m. Call church for info.

On June 20 is Father's Day. Lord's Supper during service.
