Tigersharks join Swim for Diabetes Cure Eight Tigersharks swam more than 30 combined miles over a four-hour period to raise more than $3,300 for the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland. The Riverfront YMCA team swam at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium, joining swimmers at locations throughout Northeast Ohio for the 25th Annual Swim for Diabetes. The Nat swim was sponsored by Klein's Pharmacy. Swimming for the Tigersharks were coach Dale Craddock of Cuyahoga Falls; nine-year-olds Lorna Vizmeg of Stow and Joseph Parianos of Silver Lake; Andrew Bittle, 10, of Cuyahoga Falls; 13-year-old Hope and Will Turnbull of Bedford; and 15-year-olds Morgan Lydic of Cuyahoga Falls, and Andrew Appleby of Silver Lake. Each swimmer collected pledges, either by the lap or a flat rate. All funds raised stay in Northeast Ohio to help combat the state's fifth leading cause of death. "This is the fourth year that Tigersharks have participated in Swim for Diabetes," Craddock said. "As a group, we completed more than 2,000 lengths. It took determination and resolve, but the money we raised helps support diabetes prevention and education, as well as funding a camp for children afflicted with this disease." Comments
