United Presbyterian Church

United Presbyterian offers two types of worship. The traditional service starts at 8:30 a.m. and the New Creation contemporary service starts at 11 a.m. The Educational Hour, including "Amazement Park" for elementary school age children, is from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

On May 30, the U.P.C. Golf League will tee off at 5 p.m. at Brookledge Golf Course in Cuyahoga Falls.

On May 31, the New Creation Praise Band will have a float in the Memorial Day Parade.

PrayerLab will meet June 1 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

A Kerygma Bible Study will meet June 2 at 6 p.m.

On June 5 at 9 a.m. the church will host Project rise, a ministry that makes dolls and soft toys for homeless children. They will meet in the church library.

Resurrection Night, an informal time of worship and praise for and led by post-high young adults, will be June 5, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Lietman Chapel. Information concerning this group and its activity can be found on Facebook by searching "Resurrection Night."

St. John's Episcopal Church

May 31 is the day to turn in 2-Cents-A-Meal money. To participate in this program to feed the hungry, feel free to pick up and use one of the containers available at the rear of the church the last Sunday of each month.

St. John's has supported Good Neighbors for many years. This month the needed items are canned fruit, soup, cereal, baked beans, peanut butter and jelly. You may bring the items to church and place them in the Good Neighbors bin in the hallway.

Restoring Hope is the name St. John's has chosen for the team representing them in the Relay for Life on June 5. Sign-up sheets are in the undercroft for interested runners.

Northminster Presbyterian Church

The Northminster Presbyterian Church, 104 W. Portage Trail Extension, invites community members to join the congregation for its Sunday morning worship service at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Stephanie Crossland.

Recognition Sunday, a time set aside to recognize and thank the very important contributors to the Sunday morning worship services, will take place during the Sunday morning service on June 6. Also, Bibles will be presented that day to the church's third graders, and high school and college graduates will be recognized.

Northminster Church invites all children ages 4-11 to its Vacation Bible School June 12-16. "Galactic Blast: A Cosmic Adventure Praising God!" is this year's theme. The fun begins with a "kick-off" pot-luck dinner on June 12 from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and continues Sunday-Thursday (June 13-16) from 6-8 p.m. For additional information, call Christy Bauer at the church at 330-928-8885.

First United Methodist Church

On June 6, First United Methodist Church will have a going away dinner for their Senior Minister, the Rev. Marvin Brown and Associate Minister, the Rev. Susan Lausch. The picnic dinner and program will be at SYB Hall on Hudson Drive starting at 4 p.m.. Cost is $17 each. For those interested in attending, contact Jim Ward at 330-923-9218 by May 30. Rev. Brown is retiring as of July 1 after 33 years of ministry and Rev. Lausch will be leaving First Church to become Senior Minister at Church of the Cross in Lexington, Ohio. Rev. Brown served at First Church for nine years and Rev. Lausch for eight years.

Register now for Galactic Blast Vacation Bible School at First Church during the week of June 21-25 from 9 a.m. to noon. It is for children ages 3 and potty trained to children entering fourth grade. There is also Survivor Challenge Galactic Style for kids entering fifth and sixth grade which is a hands-on mission program. The cost is $5 per child for the week or a maximum of $10 for a family. Also offered will be Galactic Blast Extreme Day Camp which is a full day option for kids entering first-sixth grades. For this option there is an additional $50 for the week per child or $45 for each additional child from the same family. Space is limited for day camp. Pilgrim United Church of Christ

Sign up soon for the 2010 mission trip. The plan is to leave June 11, travel to Windsor, Connecticut to spend the weekend at First Church in Windsor from "whence we came." After worshipping with them on June 13, (other weekend activities are planned, too) church members will proceed to Philadelphia and spend the week working with Old First Church UCC, which is engaged in urban ministry. There will be some sightseeing, then church members will head back to Pilgrim on June 19. The actual cost per person is $350. Each person who goes will be asked to pay a $50 deposit only. The youth will meet at the church at 6:20 p.m. on June 4 to go to Laser Quest (80 Brookmont Drive, Akron) to play 2 two games of laser tag. The youth fund will cover the cost for any youth fellowship members, guest cost is $8. Youth are asked to bring a snack to share. RSVP with Jo Green at 330-945-4166 by May 30. A minimum of eight people must RSVP or the event will be canceled.

Bethany United Church of Christ

Bethany United Church of Christ welcomes the community to worship with the congregation each Sunday at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Church school is offered for children and adults at 9:15 a.m. During the month of May the Mission Committee will be conducting its annual giving to Chapel Hill Community. For more than 90 years, United Church homes have demonstrated an uplifting difference in older adult lives and services. Bethany Buckeyes will meet June 5 at the Gehlerts. Bring lawn chairs and a dish to share. There will a Plant Sale at Bethany June 12. The next IHN host week begins June 27. Trinity United Church of Christ in Akron

Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St. in Akron, will have a Main Street Celebration on June 5 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
