Fairlawn woman treated after assault in the Falls

Cuyahoga Falls -- A Fairlawn resident was treated for injuries sustained when her boyfriend assaulted her at a private residence, police said. The woman reported May 22 that she was punched in the face by her boyfriend between 10 and 11 p.m. May 21. Police said she was treated at Akron General Medical Center Montrose West for three fractures of her left eye and a laceration that required seven stitches to close it.

Assault

May 23 -- Fiancé's father arrested. A 54-year-old Falls man was arrested and charged with assault after his son's fiancée reported he attacked her at a private residence during an argument over their upcoming wedding. She said he grabbed her by the throat, choked her and shoved her up against a wall.

Vandalism

May 23 -- Glass broken. Three windows were broken between 3 p.m. May 21 and 5:36 p.m. May 23. The center of three windows looked discolored from an apparent water bottle bomb that was found under a window. Damage was $6,000.

Dangerous ordinance

May 23 -- Minor disturbance. Three 12-year-old Falls boys were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a dangerous ordinance and illegal manufacturing or possessing explosives after they set off a water bottle bomb at Oak Park, 2250 12th St. No one was injured. Police said this case is related to a report the same day of three broken windows at Richardson Elementary School, 2226 23rd St. Damage was $6,000 at the school.

Burglary

May 22 -- Computer missing. A resident of the 500 block of Meredith Lane reported someone entered her apartment and stole a laptop computer. Loss was $1,200. Nothing else was reported missing. There was not damage or signs of forced entry.

May 21 -- TV taken. A resident of the 1000 block of Howe Avenue reported someone entered her apartment and took a 40-inch TV between 2 p.m. May 20 and 2 p.m. May 21. There were no signs of forced entry, the report said. The victim reported a loss of $500, however the TV, a rental, was valued at $1,300 by a leasing company in Stow. No damage reported.

May 15 -- Jewels, guns gone. A couple residing in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue reported someone entered their house between May 7 and 16 through an unlocked door and took numerous pieces of jewelry and two handguns. Loss was estimated at $7,515.

Theft

May 20 -- Charge card taken, used. An Akron man reported someone stole his credit card from his money clip that was in his gym bag in a locker at the Natatorium, 2345 Fourth St., between 2:45 and 3 p.m. More than $150 had been charged to the card before the victim canceled it, police said.

Accidents

May 24 -- Driver injured. A 65-year-old Kent man was taken to Akron General Medical Center following an accident where the truck he was driving overturned on state Route 8 at Howe Avenue around 12:30 p.m. The man was listed in serious condition May 26, a hospital spokesman said.

According to the report, the man was driving a dump truck loaded with mulch, traveling south on Route 8, when a rear tire blew out after he attempted to avoid an unknown object in the roadway. The load shifted, causing the truck to turn over onto the driver's side. The man was cited for failure to control.

Aggravated robbery

May 24 -- Pizza driver fights back. A delivery driver for Papa John's Pizza, located on State Road in Cuyahoga Falls, attempted to deliver food in the 600 block of Lucille Avenue shortly before midnight, according to Akron Police. When the driver arrived on Lucille Avenue he noticed the house appeared to be vacant. He was flagged down by the suspect, who attempted to pay with what appeared to be a fake $50 bill.

When the driver refused the money, the suspect reached into his pocket and pulled out a knife and demanded the driver's money. The driver grabbed the suspect's wrist, twisted and took the knife. The driver threw the knife into some bushes and the suspect fled.

Police say the suspect is a black male, 18 - 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, 130-140 pounds, and wearing black jeans and a black T-shirt.
