Bailey Road Christian Church

Sunday hours: 9:30 a.m.; Sunday School for all ages: 10:45 a.m.; Worship Service; 7 p.m. Praise Service. Nurse care provided during these services for ages infant through 3 years of age.

1st and 3rd Tuesdays: 12:30-2:30 p.m.: Happy Hands, crafts, knitting & sewing.

Last Friday each month, 4:30-7 p.m.. : Community Spaghetti Dinner. All-you-can-eat spaghetti w/meat sauce. Dinner includes: salad bar, bread & butter, beverage and dessert of your choice. Adults, $7; Children 4-10, $4; under 4, free.

St. John's Episcopal Church

May 23 is the deadline to sign up for the Aeros baseball game. The game is June 8 and St. John's will enjoy a meal before the game and then sit together as a group. If you are planning on attending, please call or see Tony Hitchcox.

A.A. meets this week at 7:30 on May 24 and 8 p.m. on May 28.

There will be a Soup's On Committee meeting on May 23 at 11:15 a.m. to plan the meal to be prepared on May 29 at 11:30. For those who want to attend the monthly Soup's On program, all are welcome.

The special program for the ladies of the church will be at 7 p.m. on May 27. The Ladies Night Out event is scheduled once a year and this year, the group will have a speaker portraying Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis. The guest speaker is Carol Starre-Kmiecik. The program starts at 7 p.m. Dessert follows.

United Presbyterian Church

U.P.C. will celebrate Pentecost, the Sunday of the Holy Spirit, on May 23, with one combined service beginning at 10 a.m. Worship will include the Birthday Party of the Christian Church in the Fellowship Hall.

On May 23, The U.P.C. Golf League will be teeing off at 5 p.m. at Fox Den in Stow.

PrayerLab will meet May 25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

On May 26, the U.P.C. Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet in the Church Parlor from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

A Kerygma Bible Study will meet on May 26, at 6 p.m.

On May 28, members and friends of U.P.C. have the opportunity to work with Springtime of Hope, a ministry to the homeless at St. Bernard's in Akron. For more information, call the church office.

Northminster Presbyterian Church

The Northminster Presbyterian Church, located at 104 W. Portage Trail Extension, invites community members to join the congregation for its Sunday morning worship service at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Stephanie Crossland. Plan to attend three outdoor B.Y.O.C. (Bring Your Own Chair) Sunday morning worship services on June 20, July 18 and Aug. 29. Meet in the memorial grove, beyond the picnic pavilion, with a lawn chair, and dress is casual.

Recognition Sunday, a time set aside to recognize and thank the very important contributors to the Sunday morning worship services, will take place during the Sunday morning service on June 6. Also, Bibles will be presented that day to the church's third graders, and high school and college graduates will be recognized.

Northminster Church invites all children ages 4-11 to its Vacation Bible School June 12-16. "Galactic Blast: A Cosmic Adventure Praising God!" is this year's theme. St Joseph's Flea Market

St. Joseph's is seeking people who would like to participate in the St. Joseph's Flea Market. One can sell treasures, toys, crafts, woodworking items, records, antiques and furniture. The flea market will be at St. Joseph's School, 1090 Third St. Each space is $20 (approximately 5 feet by 9 feet). Those who confirm their space by May 28 will get two spaces for $25. First United Methodist Church

On May 23, the church will be honoring their graduating high school seniors at the 8:30 a.m. worship service with a reception following. That evening, there will be a banquet for all youth and their families, honoring the seniors and celebrating their year of activities and spring tour.

Also on May 23, the congregation will be recognizing teachers as well as celebrating Pentecost by bringing in red geraniums which will be used to decorate the church grounds for the summer. Check the First Church website, firstchurchcf.com for more information.

Registration is now open for Galactic Blast Vacation Bible School at First Church during the week of June 21-25 from 9 am to noon. It is for children ages 3 and potty trained to children entering fourth grade. There is also Survivor Challenge Galactic Style for kids entering fifth and sixth grade which is a hands on mission program.

The cost is $5 per child for the week or a maximum of $10 for a family. Also offered will be Galactic Blast Extreme Day Camp which is a full day option for kids entering first through sixth grade. For this option there is an additional $50 for the week per child or $45 for each additional child from the same family. Space is limited for day camp. Sign up soon for the 2010 mission trip. The plan is to leave June 11, travel to Windsor, Conn. then on to Philadelphia and spend the week working with Old First Church UCC. Church members will head back to Pilgrim on June 19. For cost and other information, see Marilyn Freeman.

Mission Trip Spaghetti Dinner- After Church Lunch will take place on May 23: Help the church make the round trip for $3 per mile. Sponsor one mile, ten miles, 20 miles or more.

The next date to "Eat & Earn at Donatos" on State Road is May 27. Participants should mention that they are a Pilgrim when they place an order for dine-in or carry out from 5-8 p.m. and a portion of the purchases will be contributed to the church. This program earned Pilgrim $200 in 2009, and has earned the church $75 so far this year.

The youth will meet at the church at 6:20 p.m. on June 4 to go to Laser Quest (80 Brookmont Drive, Akron) to play 2 two games of laser tag. The youth fund will cover the cost for any youth fellowship members, guest cost is $8. Youth are asked to bring a snack to share. RSVP with Jo Green at 330-945-4166 by May 30.

Pilgrim is currently operating at a deficit. Please help balance the church's budget by finding "angels" to donate much needed items. Check the board outside the kitchen to see what is needed. Contact Victor Ing with any questions.

Jo Green is resigning as Pilgrim United Church of Christ's youth coordinator. Green said that working with the Youth Group for the past 2 1/2 years has been a learning experience.

"These youth show great spiritual knowledge and belief," she said. Green said she will miss working the church's young people.

"They can and will contribute a positive influence in Pilgrim's future," she said, adding that she needs to "devote my time to becoming Mrs. Robert Kindel.

Green and Kindel are getting married June 13.

Bethany United Church of Christ
