Cuyahoga Falls Police arrested a speeder they pursued into Stow who finally pulled over after his tires were punctured by devices laid down by Stow Police.

According to the report, a Falls officer was running radar on State Route 8 between Broad Boulevard and Howe Avenue around 1 a.m. May 14 when the officer clocked a pickup truck traveling 77 miles per hour. The officer pulled out and activated the cruiser's sirens and overhead lights, but the truck didn't stop.

The truck exited Route 8 at Tallmadge Avenue with several Falls police officers in pursuit. After driving down numerous side streets in Akron, the report said, the truck got back on Route 8 headed north from Tallmadge Avenue. Falls Police learned through dispatch that Stow set out stop strips near Steels Corners Road northbound.

The truck ran over the stop strips and its tires began to go flat, police said. The driver pulled over to the right and stopped the vehicle. The driver, a 29-year-old Stow man, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, refusing a blood-alcohol content test, driving under suspension, speed, reckless operation, and failing to stop. During the booking process, Akron Police called and said they had a warrant for this man's arrest, so a Falls officer drove him to a meeting place where he was turned over to Akron Police.
