Falls woman arrested after toddler was found outside

Cuyahoga Falls -- A 40-year-old Falls woman was arrested and charged with endangering children after two women reported seeing her 2-year-old son, wearing only a T-shirt and a diaper, walking by himself on the sidewalk along State Road in the 2500 block at 12:30 p.m. May 7.

The women stayed with the boy until officers arrived, police said, and remained with them to try and locate the boy's home. When they realized the boy was unable to show them where he lived, officers called Summit County Children Services who came and took custody of the boy who was not hurt.

The boy was not far from home which is in the same block, police said. His mother was arrested when she came outside because she saw police cars in her neighborhood, police said. The boy is staying with relatives until Children Services completes its investigation, a county official said.

Burglary

May 11 -- Shop entered. The owner of a pizza shop in the 1900 block of Bailey Road reported someone entered his business by smashing in the front door and took approximately $100 between 9:25 p.m. May 10 and 4:05 a.m. May 11.

Drug possession

May 6 -- Juvenile arrested. A 13-year-old Falls boy was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance on Broad Boulevard at Riverfront Parkway at 10:45 p.m. after he was found with suspected marijuana. The boy was released at the police station to his mother, police said.

Theft

May 6 -- Grills taken. Two residents of apartments on Pleasant Meadow Boulevard reported two charcoal grills were stolen at 6:40 a.m. Their grills were sitting together in a fenced-in area where the apartment complex's trash bin is kept, the report said. Total loss was $70.

May 4 -- Shoplifters caught. Two Falls girls, 12 and 13, were arrested and charged with theft after the manager of a store in the 600 block of Portage Trail reported they were caught outside the store shortly before 5 p.m. with $124 worth of merchandise they didn't pay for. Police said the girls hid the stolen items in a book bag they had brought into the store.

Accident

May 5 -- Driver cited. A 19-year-old Stow man was cited for assured clear distance ahead after a crash on Broad Boulevard at State Route 8 around 7:45 a.m. According to the report, the Stow man was following a 23-year-old man from Parkersburg, W.Va., southbound in the left lane. The West Virginian was braking for a vehicle stopping in front of him when his pickup truck was struck in the rear by the Stowite's Cadillac. No one was injured. Damage to the Cadillac was functional; to the pickup, non-functional.
