Cuyahoga Falls -- A 24-year-old Akron woman was cited for failure to control after a one-car crash around 11:45 p.m. March 9. According to the report, the woman was traveling south on state Route 8 in the left lane when she lost control of her car between Graham Road and Second Street and drove it to the right across all lanes.
The car went off the road, struck a stone-faced embankment, bounced into the emergency lane and burst into flames. The driver had non-incapacitating injuries and was not taken to the hospital, the report said. The car had severe damage. Police said the driver told officers she was hit by another vehicle, but they found no supporting evidence.
Disorderly conduct
March 15 -- Howler on Howe. A 29-year-old Akron woman was arrested around 8 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after she called 911 from a store in the 700 block of Howe Avenue and was found yelling and screaming obscenities at store employees, customers and police officers, and refused to leave. This happened only minutes after police escorted the woman out of another business in the same block after the store called police because she was allegedly exhibiting the same behavior.
Forgery
March 12 -- Fake check. A 38-year-old Cleveland man was arrested at a bank in the 1700 block of State Road and charged with forgery after a bank official reported that the suspect cashed a counterfeit check from a business account in the amount of $5,000 on March 11.
Theft
March 10 -- Scam victim. A Falls woman reported someone she knows has scammed her out of thousands of dollars, police said, by deceiving her from October 2009 to the present. The Falls Police Department's Detective Bureau is investigating the case.
