Uniontown -- Walsh Jesuit rode the outside play of sophomore guard Rachel Theriot and the inside play of senior center Nneka Offodile to a 73-42 win over Ravenna in a Division II District Championship game at Uniontown Lake High School Mar. 6.

The Lady Ravens led early on at 4-0 and 6-2 before the Lady Warriors went on a 9-0 run and took the lead for good at 11-6 as Offodile laid the ball in with 4:54 remaining in the first quarter.

However, Ravenna hung in there and trailed just 15-14 as senior guard Chanel Berry sank a 10-foot jumper with 2:46 left in the first period.

Walsh Jesuit led 19-16 after one quarter as senior guard Ariel McNair converted 1-of-2 free throws with 0:58 to go in the opening quarter.

Leading 19-18, the Lady Warriors applied some pressure defense on the Lady Ravens and it paid off on the offensive end for Walsh Jesuit. Theriot connected on her fourth of five triples in the first half as the Lady Warriors led 28-22 with 5:23 remaining in the second period.

The key point in the game came next as the Lady Warriors went on a 7-0 spurt and led 49-32 with 5:44 remaining in the third quarter as senior forward Sarah Sureck scored on a layup.

Walsh Jesuit led 56-36 after three as third-year head coach Pete Zaccari went with most of his reserve players the rest of the way.

According to Theriot, who a career-high 30 points, her team wants to erase the memory of losing to Wapakoneta in the regional championship game last year.
