On March 1, the County of Summit Developmental Disabilities Board opened two new community integrated service centers, one in Cuyahoga Falls and the other in Barberton.

The centers are designed to provide work support and habilitation programs for clients of the agency. The centers are designed to serve no more than 75 people and will have a staff of approximately 15 direct care employees and two managers.

The Cuyahoga Falls center is on the corner of Second Street and Oakwood Drive. The 15,800-square-foot facility contains a Gift Gallery and Bistro that serves gourmet sandwiches, salads, Coke products, coffee, tea and desserts. The store is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. It's closed on Sunday.

Each center is also a location for three to four service and support administrators to meet with families, guardians and caregivers of all those served in the respective communities.

There are 58 people with disabilities at each center. More than half of those people with disabilities will work at the center. The hours of the program operations at the Falls facility are 10:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The facility manager is Darann Warner, who can be reached at 330-634-8200.

The opening of these two facilities brings the total number of community service centers to 10.

The County of Summit Developmental Disabilities Board provides services to more than 4,000 individuals with disabilities and their families in Summit County. More information regarding the agency is available at www.summitdd.org.
