Lifeguard training classes offered at Natatorium The Natatorium will have a lifeguard training session on weekends beginning April 9 to 25. Classes will be Friday 4 to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A mandatory pre-course swim test is scheduled for April 6 at 6 p.m. Participants must be a minimum of 15 years of age and be able to pass a pre-course swimming test that includes swimming 300 yards and retrieving a brick from the bottom of the pool. If you are unable to attend all classes you will not pass the course. Upon successful completion of the class each participant will receive the following American Red Cross Certifications: Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Preventing Disease Transmission and Oxygen Administration. Payment is taken at time of registration at the Natatorium, at 2345 4th Street in Cuyahoga Falls. Students under 18 must have parents sign a release form for the first day of class. Bring suit, towels, and optional goggles, water bottle, padlock for daily locker usage and snack. Vending available. The Natatorium and Water Works Family Aquatic Center employs more than 120 lifeguards in the summer season. Job opportunities may be available. Bring your "gear" and enjoy 4 feet of personal space and 4 hours of uninterrupted time to work on your projects. Light refreshments and a different make-n-take project are offered each month at the new Friday Night Crop Club. New to scrapbooking? For $10 purchase a paper album starter kit. Bring your pictures and use shared tools to begin an album. Join us at the Quirk Cultural Center from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. March 19. Fee is $4 resident/$5 nonresident, plus class fee of $10 per person made payable to Ashlyn Monroe. Registration fee due at sign ups and the class fee is due at class. Don't strike out! -- Final baseball registration The Cuyahoga Falls Amateur Baseball Association, sponsored by the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department will have registration for the Baseball Program March 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. Late registration will be March 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Quirk Center. The baseball program is designed so that everyone who registers is placed on a team and will play in every game. Uniforms, equipment, fields, and coaches are provided. Each player must provide his glove and all-purpose shoes. Registration fees are $40 for players from ages 6 to 12 years, $45 for ages 13 and 14 and $50 for players from ages 15 to 18. Calling all Picasso and Rembrandt wannabees Now is your chance to learn to paint or draw. This is a great place to start to create a work of art from color mixing, painting application, and composition to complete a project. Students supply painting or drawing materials. Beginners are to bring a sketch pad and pencil the first night. Classes are four-week sessions at the Quirk Cultural Center. Painting is on Mondays beginning March 15 from 7 to 10 p.m. Drawing classes are on Wednesdays beginning March 17 from 7 to 10 p.m.. Each session is $30 resident, $38 nonresident. Monies taken in that day will go to the Senior Adult Special Events sponsored by the Senior Volunteers. Tickets are $5 presale and $6 at the door and are available at the Quirk Center.
