Kindergarten registration announced

The Cuyahoga Falls City Schools Kindergarten registration will begin on March 1 and continue every working day throughout the summer at the Office of Pupil Services, Schnee Learning Center, 2222 Issaquah St. between the hours of 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

The Office of Pupil Services will also be open on March 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for kindergarten registration. Students who are being registered for kindergarten must be 5 years old by Aug. 1.

Kindergarten classes for the 2010-11 school year will be half-day sessions.

Parents/guardians must provide the following documents for their child/children when registering: original birth certificate; immunization records; Social Security card; copy of MFE and IEP if the child has been identified as special ed.; custody documents if parents are divorced; and proof of residency (current utility bill or lease/mortgage agreement).

Benefit set for former student

A Sloppy Joe Dinner is planned to benefit a former Richardson Elementary student who is battling his third diagnosis of leukemia.

The fundraiser is set for March 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Richardson gym, 2226 23rd St. in Cuyahoga Falls. The band, "Get Back," will provide entertainment.

Marko Mudrinic, 11, and his family currently live in Cleveland but he had attended Richardson through third grade. He recently had his spleen removed and is facing needed heart surgery. According to Principal Frank Margida, Marko stops by to visit at the school about once a month.

The dinner will include sloppy joes or meatless pizza and desserts. The cost is $10 for adults and $3 for children. All proceeds will go to the benefit of the family and to help with medical bills.

Marco's, Hungry Howies and Acme have donated items for the fundraiser. For ticket information or to make a donation, contact the school at 330-926-3807. Checks can be made payable to the Marko Mudrinic Fund.

PTA Council to host 80th Founder's Day

The 80th celebration of Founder's Day of the Cuyahoga Falls Council of PTAs will take place March 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Schnee Learning Center, 2222 Issaquah St. The covered dish dinner is a time to honor the organizations past and present leaders and to share PTA memories. Summit Christian plans March 1 open house

Summit Christian School invites guests to its Community Open House, which will take place March 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The school has classes for pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. Games and activities are planned for children so that parents may visit freely.

If more information is needed, inquiries may be made by calling the school office at 330-762-EDUC (3382).

Instrumental Music Patrons fundraiser is March 13

The Cuyahoga Falls Instrumental Music Patrons will host their annual Reverse Raffle and Silent Auction on March 13 at Emidio's Banquet Center at the corner of State and Bath Roads.

Tickets are a $100 donation and that includes one number on the big board, two catered dinners and beverages. Any additional dinners are $30. The doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7.

The top prize will be $1,500 and the proceeds go to the Cuyahoga Falls Instrumental Music Patrons program. There will also be a silent auction and smaller side boards.
