Actors-N-Theatre in Cuyahoga Falls presents "Beauty and the Beast," which opens March 5 and runs through March 14. "Beauty and the Beast" is a story of selfishness, loss and love, and narrated by the Queen of the Fairies and her dancing fairies. As punishment for rebuffing a powerful witch, an egotistical prince becomes a true "beast" until someone will love him for himself. The beast and all that are in his castle live a life of loneliness until one day, a lost and frighten widow stumbles upon them and is tricked into taking the beast's beautiful rose. The beast condemns the widow to death but in a moment's generosity allows her to return home to bid her family farewell. One of the widow's daughters, Beauty, whose heart is sincere and pure, offers to take her mother's place at the castle. The Beast accepts this trade but demands that Beauty live forever at the castle. Beauty is shocked and a little frightened at all that she sees: a beastly man, talking furniture and the realization that she will never be able to see her family again. The Beast's heart begins to soften and he allows Beauty to return to see her ill mother. Aided by a magic looking glass, Beauty sees that the Beast doubts her love for him and returns to the castle to restore the Beast to his true form. The cast includes actors/actresses from Cuyahoga Falls, Tallmadge, Kent, Stow and Munroe Falls. The part of Beauty is played by Lacie Fischer of Munroe Falls. Christopher Poore of Cuyahoga Falls plays the handsome and selfish Prince and Larry McWilliams of Cuyahoga Falls portrays the Beast. The production will be at the third floor Newell Theater of the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Street in the Cuyahoga Falls. Performances will be at 8 p.m. on March 5, 6, 12, 13 and at 3 p.m. on March 7 and 14. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and $6 for seniors and children under 12.
