Summa Western Reserve Hospital will assume ownership and management of the former MEDGroup Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine facility, located at 3913 Darrow Road, Stow, effective March 1. James Martin, D.O., will continue his role as Medical Director.

"This is an exciting development for our hospital and something the Summa Western Reserve Hospital physicians have been anticipating in moving forward with our continuum of care strategy," said Robert A. Kent, Jr., D.O., CEO, Summa Western Reserve Hospital.

"From primary care to urgent care, to the emergency department, the hospital and back to a patient's primary care physician, we want to be able to provide the highest quality, most convenient healthcare available at every point of delivery. Acquiring this urgent care and occupational medicine facility allows us to close that healthcare circle."

Summa Western Reserve Hospital Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine will continue to provide urgent medical treatment for sore throats, earaches, pneumonia, bronchitis, eye infections, rash, poison ivy, other skin irritations, stomach aches, flu, minor lacerations, sprains and strains, sports, school and college physicals, work permits, immigration required exams and other minor non-life threatening medical concerns.

The facility will also continue its occupational medicine services including: injury care and prevention program, drug and alcohol test collection, drug and alcohol online reporting, pre-placement health evaluations, OSHA compliance evaluations, independent medical evaluations, executive physicals and police/fire pension/disability exams.

"Patient satisfaction is the top priority, as at the hospital's main campus and our other locations. We are looking forward to working closely with Dr. James Martin and his entire staff in ensuring an excellent patient experience," said Dr. Kent.

Dr. Kent also noted that, unlike many other quick clinics in the area, where patients are not always treated by a physician, community members visiting Summa Western Reserve Hospital Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine will always be seen by a doctor.

"It is part of the patient satisfaction promise," said Dr. Kent. "Ensuring every patient sees a physician, regardless of the severity of care need or service, ensures that every patient is afforded the best care available. That has been our mission since the beginning and we believe in our responsibility to push toward our vision of bringing the highest quality healthcare to our region."

Summa Western Reserve Hospital Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine has extended office hours that allow patients a way to get immediate care during off-hours or weekends. Convenient walk-in service is welcome, or patients call for an appointment. Laboratory and x-ray services are also available on-site for patient convenience.
